Cool Hand Posted December 10, 2016 Posted December 10, 2016 Any interest in allowing a VW Beetle to join?Given that you will be building the Bug as a Lowrider, I would be very interested to see you participate and I know il enjoy watching what you will create.
Cool Hand Posted December 10, 2016 Posted December 10, 2016 And some of the work that was done to make the guts of the boot/trunk.
Cool Hand Posted December 11, 2016 Posted December 11, 2016 Thanks Paul. Progress Update. Scratch built some pumps, Pegasus batteries #1008.
Pim Posted December 11, 2016 Posted December 11, 2016 when i have my cannonball build wrapped up i might get in on this dont know what with yet
Lowlife ! ! Posted December 11, 2016 Posted December 11, 2016 Love them pumps Luke, and that rear panel above the lights looks perfect ! Great work, looking forward to more..

There's one thing you guys might not like. My wheels and tires, they are spokes, but not narrow 13's. If you don't think this will be OK, I'll drop out unless I can find another subject. I'm at a point on this where the little narrow spokes won't work. I'll do periodic updates here and a full WIP in the "On the Workbench" board. I started with the kraptastic RM VW 60's Beetle. I introduce "The Virus". Edited December 11, 2016 by Psychographic
Cool Hand Posted December 12, 2016 Posted December 12, 2016 Thanks fella's.Will post some better up close pics of the pumps soon. They just need a final clean up and assembled permanently, at the moment they are just white glued together for test fit and mock up purposes. There's one thing you guys might not like. Also id be inclined to could say your Bug called possibly fall into the radical Lowrider catergory.
Lowlife ! ! Posted December 12, 2016 Posted December 12, 2016 If your interested look up a custom VW lowrider built by Bernnt ( I think? ) the guy from Sweden that used to work at Boyd Coddingtons. He built a show bug called the pink lady, chopped, widened, new front/rear end. It was WiLd, gullwing doors, Dayton's, and fur interior. I want to build a replica of it one day, one of the wildest beetle lowriders ever built !
Psychographic Posted December 12, 2016 Posted December 12, 2016 Bernt 's bug is crazy. I don't like the nose on it though. A little update. The chassis pan had to be shortened, and the back raised to fit the wheelwells. I also started redoing the rear suspension. The trunk is almost done.
Psychographic Posted December 13, 2016 Posted December 13, 2016 OK, who's the wiseguy that moved my doorhandles?
otherunicorn Posted December 14, 2016 Posted December 14, 2016 OK, who's the wiseguy that moved my doorhandles? Man, those door handles are suicide...
Lowlife ! ! Posted December 18, 2016 Posted December 18, 2016 My interior in the 64 is coming along, never did like building things factory stock !
maltsr Posted December 18, 2016 Posted December 18, 2016 That's wild, Martin, what materials did you use?
maltsr Posted December 18, 2016 Posted December 18, 2016 Modest update on the Karmann Ghia, suspension lowered front and rear:
Lowlife ! ! Posted December 18, 2016 Posted December 18, 2016 The Ghia is looking good Paul, looking forward to more on this !The interior is fuzzy felt, you can pick up packets of felt, fur, glitter card etc at most art / toy shops. I use chrome cardboard too, usually saved from things like easter egg boxes ! There's a WIP for this 64 with more pix, its in the workbench section !
Cool Hand Posted December 20, 2016 Posted December 20, 2016 (edited) Some impressive cut and shut going on with your build David.Interior is starting to look the part Martin, excellent work.Of to a good start Paul, look forward to another update. Edited December 20, 2016 by Cool Hand
Lowlife ! ! Posted December 21, 2016 Posted December 21, 2016 And we missed ya Birthday Luke, hope you had a good one !
maltsr Posted December 31, 2016 Posted December 31, 2016 I've finished the Karmann Ghia, had a few issues with the interior, but happy with the result. I have also painted a '64 Chevy that I might add to this CB and turn it into a more flamboyant ride, if I can pluck up the courage to do a wilder interior.
Cool Hand Posted January 1, 2017 Posted January 1, 2017 (edited) Ghia turned out great Paul, well done and good to see someone finish a build already. Would like to see some more pics though.Hope it motivates and inspires others. Edited January 1, 2017 by Cool Hand
