Theo Posted September 30, 2016 Posted September 30, 2016 Hi all, Has anyone ever tried this stuff? http://www.ironlak.com/2014/01/introducing-sugar-artists-acrylic/I know it is more intended for the graffiti crowd, but they started carrying it at my local hardware store for a good price and the potential for fewer fumes sounds appealing. Thanks for any informationTheo
aurfalien Posted September 30, 2016 Posted September 30, 2016 Looks very cool.Would be awesome if a senior member would evaluate it.
Snake45 Posted September 30, 2016 Posted September 30, 2016 When you get tired of looking at your model, can you lick it? Seriously: Will it attract flies, gnats, roaches, or weevils?
espo Posted October 1, 2016 Posted October 1, 2016 Get your self a picnic spoon and a can in the color of you choice. Let us know how it turns out.
Theo Posted October 3, 2016 Author Posted October 3, 2016 Hi espoSpraying some spoons is the plan and I'll let you know what happens. Since the stuff is available at my local ACE, thought maybe someone else had already checked it out.
BigTallDad Posted October 3, 2016 Posted October 3, 2016 According to the link, the paint is matt; I don't know if gloss colors are available. While you're experimenting with the spoons. try some gloss clear over the top coat.

I don't like to put any paint ON until I know I can get it back OFF if need be.
Longbox55 Posted October 3, 2016 Posted October 3, 2016 I would question the durability as well. While we don't generally handle them once built, but there is going to be handling of painted parts during assembly and finishing. Being that this paint is aimed at graffiti artists, I would think it would possibly be made to be easily removed by those who don't want said graffiti on their buildings/railcars, etc. Would it be a durable enough finish to stand up to say, wet sanding the finish out for polishing? Or perhaps even holding up to solvents for detail painting or handling while doing BMF?
