I am a big Lee Child/Jack Reacher fan. I am so, so disappointed that Tom Cruise is staring in Never Go Back. I thought that after  One Shot Cruise would be dumped. I know that Jim Grant aka Lee Child is not a Scientologist . Why he did not say "No" to Cruise beats me.

Tom cruise is no Jack Reacher. Josh Brolin, Ray The Punisher Stevenson, or Bradley Cooper would be perfect. Anyone than Cruise.

Things Reacher would not say: I think Tom Cruise should play me in a movie

:Scientology is the way to go.

Things Reacher would say:       That's a kool Chevelle.

Drivers license I don't need no stinking  license.

Will I watch Never Go Back? Hell yes !!!!!  Will I build the Jack Reacher Chevelle ? Maybe.

My wife's a Lee Child reader. She flipped when I told her who'd be playing Reacher. Cruise is about a foot short and probably 100 pounds shy of being Reacher.

We watched the first movie. She grumbled all through it, I liked it in spite of the casting but we agree Liev Schreiber would be the perfect fit ,, especially after watching Ray Donovan.

I really don't think religion [or whatever] had anything to do with the casting, I think it was just a bad decision ,, and besides, Child is OK with it.

Lee Child sold out to the highest bidder.  Cruise bought the rights to the Jack Reacher series, I hoped it would flop but apparently Cruise is getting enough return on his investment to continue "playing" Reacher, probably the worst casting I can remember!

I read them all and have pre-ordrerd the next one. As I read the books, a young Clint Eastwood kept coming to mind. I looked up Schrieber, and I think he'd fit the character. I didn't know him.

Landman I agree Liv Schrieber would be perfect. Michael Fassbender { Magneto X Men} could also be Reacher.

I  just read the latest Vince Flynn (RIP) and Kyle Mills.  A Mitch Rapp Novel  Order To Kill. Another great novel.    A Reacher and Mitch Rapp collaboration would be awesome..

I've read all the books, enjoyed them...but haven't seen the movies...I usually like Tom Cruise movies (his best later period role was in Collateral, IMO), but he just doesn't fit the physical description of the character...(Reacher is supposed to be like 6'4" or so?).  And the character rarely ever drives unless he has to.

I always thought Risky Business and Collateral was his best movies..

I didn't think the first movie was bad at all. For the role, I thought Tom did just fine. But then, I've never read the book/comic/whatever, so have no clue about the backstory or the history of this character.

And when watching an action movie like this, or any movie for that matter, does anyone honestly care what religion an actor is? I literally could not care less about an actor's religious beliefs when I'm watching a movie. Christian? Christian Scientist? Muslim? Flying Spaghetti Monster? Jedi? Good grief. If the person is a decent actor, or plays the role the right way for a particular movie, then I'll be into it. Religion doesn't affect my enjoyment of a movie, unless the producers start packing the movie full of religious propaganda. Then I'm out. Same goes for politics.

Jack Reacher would have no reason to be in a car chase. He runs from no one. Unless he has Tom Cruise's stature.

Yeah, his boyish nerd look would have him running for sure.
