PowerPlant Posted October 9, 2016 Posted October 9, 2016 I just purchased one of these... The box says the kit is manufactured by "JNT Model Products LTD" of Japan... Has anyone ever heard of this company? I was Googling for others, but this is their only kit I can find, and sources say it's by a company named Sunny... I cannot find much about that either, so now I am really confused about what I have Is it something really obscure? And "Harley SXE"??? As far as I am aware there is no such thing, and this is an FXE... Or? Also, I was wondering, are there any other 1/24 and 1/25 scale Harley Davidson kits out there, apart from the Maisto die-casts? Thanks
SSNJim Posted October 9, 2016 Posted October 9, 2016 Revell did a 1/25 2000 Ford Limited Edition Harley Davidson F-150 that included a trailer and Harley motorcycle; it might be an FX something or the other. It's not a Softtail. This would be the second kit I've heard of by a company named Sunny; the first is a Cobra 427. I don't know much about them either.According to a website I found, the first letter will always be F (Big Twin), X (Sportster) or V (Revolution/Vrod). No mention of S, but F can sound like S sometimes.
Ace-Garageguy Posted October 9, 2016 Posted October 9, 2016 (edited) There was also a Revell parts-pack Harley chopper first issued in about '64 and repopped in about '82. Good luck finding one, and be prepared to spend. The Monogram Cherry Bomb kit has a Harley chopper as well. Edited October 9, 2016 by Ace-Garageguy
pack rat Posted October 9, 2016 Posted October 9, 2016 (edited) I suspect that might be the same Harley Davidson produced in Japan and marketed in the early-mid 70's by Entex. Google Entex Big Bike Series and you'll find a pic or two; see if it looks like your kit. Like Bill said, the Revell Parts Pack/Grease 2 chopper is tough to find, and bring money. I was lucky; mine (the Grease 2 issue) came from a hobby shop in about 1986....it had been gathering dust on their shelf for a couple of years (pic-the handle bars on mine aren't "stock", they broke at some point). Although they're not kits, Franklin Mint did a series of 1/24 H-D's, and Hallmark has been producing a continuing series of H-D Keepsake ornaments for a few years now that are close to 1/24 scale (pic). Maybe not the greatest replicas, but they display OK. Edited October 9, 2016 by pack rat
tim boyd Posted October 9, 2016 Posted October 9, 2016 For images of some assembled 1/25th scale Harley kits. including that uber-rare Revell Parts Pack Harley Chopper, you can check out the following....here's the Harley Anniversary F150 Dyna Glide Sport assembled (I wrote an article on this for Model Cars back around 2007 or so).... Hope this helps....TIM
PowerPlant Posted October 9, 2016 Author Posted October 9, 2016 (edited) Thanks for all the replies! Upon further research, I discovered this is in fact the Entex Big Bike series Harley, but I could not find much about it online, except some blurry photos of a builtup... After comparing the pieces and photos, I came to a conclusion the wheels are way too small, and the headlight too large, so this kit will need some fixing to make it look decent, especially because it is quite simplified... I'm just glad I finally have a frame and V-twin in 1/24 scale to work around Edited October 9, 2016 by PowerPlant
keyser Posted October 10, 2016 Posted October 10, 2016 (edited) Maisto did a nice, huge series of 1/24 scale HD's. Diecast, quite good, many different models, from WW1 era until present. Still occasionally see one paired in an HD liveried Maisto pickup, but I haven't seen the individual bikes for years. I thing there were 5-6 release sets of about 5-6 different bikes. Nice Police Electraglide, some cool 40's panheads, etc. I've got a ton of them, but none handy now. These are NOT their 1/18 bikes. I know you said kits, and mentioned these, but few people seem to know about these. Sorry, just trying to fill in gap. Quick Google: Edited October 10, 2016 by keyser

I set about collecting these Maisto 1/25th Harleys some years ago...it seems to me (probably exaggerated, but....) I have nearly 100 of them now. Also, Franklin Mint did some of them (more expensive, and reflected in the more extensive content in quality), and yes, they were 1/25th scale too. Brookfield Guild did a few (with truck combos such as an F250HD and Dually and a Chevy Suburban), very nicely detailed, again in 1/25th. . Finally, the annual Hallmark Christmas Tree Ornament Harleys are very sharp, in 1/25th, and look great (other than the lack of tire treads) once you pull out the ornament hook with a pair of pliers. Unlike the others mentioned here, Hallmark has continued to produce these right up to today, so the more recent Harley introductions are captured in scale as well. Hope that helps....TIM t Hall Bui Edited October 10, 2016 by tim boyd

Re the Maisto Harleys; I too hadn't seen any in many years, but just this past summer the individual bikes appeared again in Canadian Walmarts. It wouldn't hurt to check your local Wally's if you're so inclined...I recently picked up this '80 Wide Glide (always liked the flamed tank). Likewise, if anyone is interested in the Hallmark series, pictured are the two bikes that are available currently; the '15 Road Glide, and the '80 Sturgis that was released just last week. The Sturgis is definitely one of their better efforts...it even has a very faint suggestion of tire treads, unlike previous efforts as Tim mentioned. Finally...to stray off-topic just a bit....although they don't produce any H-D's (due to licensing I assume) IXO out of Europe has produced a very nice line of 1/24 scale diecast bikes for years. Most of their subject matter is current GP-type stuff, but a few years ago they produced a really nice series of 24 bikes in a "Museum Series". Ebay would probably be your only source for these (I got lucky and found them locally). They are definitely a cut above the other bikes mentioned (some have photo-etched brake rotors etc) Shown below are two from that line...a '48 Indian Chief and a '70 Honda CB750.
