The 1970 Camaro's have always been one of my favourite muscle cars of all time, I just love the lines of the car. Ive had 2 of the older issues of this kit in the stash for a long time and thought it would be about time I dug one out to build.

Overall it could be such a great kit but its let down by poor kit engineering in places, the fit between the top of the dash and the bottom of the windshield stops the chassis from fitting properly on the front end, this left me pulling my hair out after trimming and test fitting about 40 times !.

Then to top it all the paint went very wrong on the roof, Im not sure if its too visible in the photos but its there, I just wanted the darn thing built so here it is box stock, with as close as I could get with UK paints to Cortez Silver.

That turned out really nice! B)

Also my favorite generation Camaro as far as styling goes. Waaaaaaay better looking than the monstrosity that passes as a "Camaro" these days!

.....one of my friends back in the early 70s had your build as his actual car, when my pals and yours truly all had a different muscle cars  coming and going constantly. still hear the wrap of those Z28 solid lifters even now.....loved his car, love your build too, Gary....nice piece..the Ace....;)

Beautiful looking build. The hood stripes, is the spacing getting wider toward the front or is it just the picture ?

I think it's a beautiful build!! I can't see the blemish in the roof in the pictures, but I understand how annoying that is.  I built one a year ago... I had some issues with the windshield as well, but not as many as you mentioned.  My biggest problem was the decals, as they didn't want to snug down around the rear spoiler and fractured in places.  I am thinking about pulling the body, stripping it and repainting without stripes.  I don't know how much the roof annoys you, but if mine was this nice, I'd probably let it alone.  Great job!

Very nice work. The hood stripes do look a little splayed towards the outside edges, as they should be evenly spaced down the middle. I did not use the kit decals on my '79 Camaro, as I did mine as an SS350, and not a Z28, so I cannot speak about how the stripes will go on it.

That is one handsome car.

It's silver, has Firestone Wide Ovals, and a V8. Can't ask more than that.

Great model by the way!!

By the pictures the go fast stripes on the hood look like making a "V". It can be just optical illusion by the way the hood was when pictured.

Thanks for all the kind comments ......I have to confess I put those hood stripes on the wrong way around on the hood, I could kick myself now as it's so obvious. By the time it got to putting the decals I just wanted it done and I didn't pay attention.

Oh well lessen learned ha ha !

Is this the Amt? Any way you could post a pic of the box art?

Yes its the AMT kit, I've thrown my box away but it's the exact same one as this,

Looks great. Love the color combo. Just looks "right"

I feel your pain in fitting some of these older tools. Fit, sand, repeat. I do so much fitting before starting on older tools. Do not even mention paint. I have one kit that has taken 4 purple baths from paint issues. A recent build received some unplanned decals because of a minor paint issue.

Great looking build. Love the color.

I did mine as a convertible in a similar silver with painted maroon stripes. I had the same problem with the dash, windshield fit. What a pain!
