aurfalien Posted October 13, 2016 Posted October 13, 2016 Well, the problem with agitators is that they can introduce bubbles. If your jar is big enough, like with Tamiya acrylics, I slowly stir for a good bit.I've used a lot of stirrers and the best for me is the Tamiya paint stirrer. My Vallejos are in tiny bottles so in those cases, I use a stainless steal bearing (others will rust) and shake it up good, giving it a few for the bubbles to dissipate.I still thin them in a palette for further smoothing.

I use zinc-plated BBs (available at walmart)...a small container has 1,200 BBs and is probably a lifetime supply.
gtx6970 Posted October 14, 2016 Posted October 14, 2016 Coffee stir sticks , or toothpicks in a pinch if its to be airbrushed.I'll use the same AND shake them if its to be brushed on
Art Anderson Posted October 17, 2016 Posted October 17, 2016 Geez, and all these years I seem to have been doing it all wrong. I've merely turned paint bottles upside down, smack the heck out of the cap end on the heel of one hand until the paint's all stirred up. Hmmmmmmm. (?)Art
Jon Haigwood Posted October 17, 2016 Posted October 17, 2016 (edited) BB's , put one in the jar when I first open it. As of late I have been de-canting spray cans. I add the mixer ball from the can to the storage jar. (be careful when pouring in smaller bottles. That mixer ball can make a heck of a splash if you forget about it.) Miatatom Posted October 18, 2016 Posted October 18, 2016 (edited) I store my paints in small Mason jars and just stir with a plastic straw. The one paint that I do stir is craft acrylics. I use them on chassis and interiors. They tend to clump so I rigged up a little stirring station using a couple of pieces of wood and my variable speed dremel. The stirrer is just a piece of coat hanger that I bent at a 90 degree angle and flattened. The tip only sticks out about 1/8" and stirs the paint without throwing it all over the place. slusher Posted October 19, 2016 Posted October 19, 2016 I use zinc-plated BBs (available at walmart)...a small container has 1,200 BBs and is probably a lifetime supply.I am going to try that Ray.
BigTallDad Posted October 19, 2016 Posted October 19, 2016 I am going to try that Ray.Depending on the size of the jar, you might want to put more than one BB in it.
