Modlbldr Posted October 31, 2016 Posted October 31, 2016 Since I am home recuperating from the hospital I figured it was a great time to.work on a project. However, my current 3 projects are all at work. So I dug out this kit that I had started the clean up on a while back. I am planning a truck that is extremely lowered, perhaps even laying frame. So far I have roughed in the widening of the front wheel wells and raising the bed. http:// When I started this project I had thought of using wide wheels and tires but now I'm thinking stock tires and wheels. Well, the option is there. http:// This is how it sat in the rear after the begining of the c-notch. http:// http:// Here is the rear suspension I am shooting for. http:// http:// Still a lot of work and a lot lower to go. Modlbldr Posted October 31, 2016 Author Posted October 31, 2016 (edited) A bit more work in the last hour. Need to find a piece of my brass tubing to run the wire through bu I think it is all at work. http:// Decided to keep moving ahead by drilling the plastic rod. http:// Later- Edited October 31, 2016 by Modlbldr
Modlbldr Posted November 2, 2016 Author Posted November 2, 2016 Thanks Steve. Got a bit more work done tonight, but nothing worthy of photos. I'm enjoying having the time to work on this one. I'll hit it again tomorrow to try and get the rear suspension completed. More photos tomorrow.Later-
TFchronos Posted November 2, 2016 Posted November 2, 2016 Very nice work, I'll be watching this one for sure.

Modlbldr Posted November 5, 2016 Author Posted November 5, 2016 Thanks guys. I made some small progress on the rear yesterday. Still quite a ways to go. http:// This is how low the rear will sit. http:// http:// http://[/UetL] Now to get the front end down. Later-
chadrob30 Posted November 6, 2016 Posted November 6, 2016 Nice project! I used to live north of Spokane too lol.
Modlbldr Posted November 6, 2016 Author Posted November 6, 2016 Nice project! I used to live north of Spokane too lol. That's funny. I used to live in Arkansas. Where did you live North of Spokane and where are you in AR?Later-
Modlbldr Posted November 6, 2016 Author Posted November 6, 2016 (edited) I'm thinking about complicating this project by scratching the side trim for it. I like the look of it much better. I have brushed out a few possible colors for this truck to see which, if any, I liked best. I may go with one or a "stock" color. What do you think? I am leaning towards the green on the top or the bronze (3rd down). All are nail polish. http:// I'm back to work tomorrow so progress on this will grind to a crawl. Later- Edited November 6, 2016 by Modlbldr

Modlbldr Posted November 13, 2016 Author Posted November 13, 2016 I've been extemely preoccupied these last few weeks but finally got a bit of time on this one again. Still have a bit of work on the rear suspension but I wanted to see what it was going to take on the front suspension to get it lower. I began with the front suspension from a NASCAR Monte Carlo kit. I removed the molded in parts on the pickup chassis. http:// These are the MC parts. http:// Here is the ride height with the parts just tacked in place for the time being. http:// I need to remove the shaded area of the inner fender panels in order to clear the upper A arms and see how the cab sits. http:// http:// http:// Not bad for an hour's work. Still needs a bit of tweeking. Or, I may leave it with a slight rake to the rear. I kinda like it like it is. Enough for tonight. Comments and criticisms welcomed. Later-
Modlbldr Posted November 17, 2016 Author Posted November 17, 2016 Thanks. I'm hoping to get back on this soon.Later-
Modlbldr Posted December 12, 2016 Author Posted December 12, 2016 I managed to get back on this one for a bit during lunch today. I have started making side trim for the body. I have the passenger side done but still need to do the driver's side. Pics of that later... I worked on lowering the front suspension but got a bit too low. http:// http:// Now the frame cross member is dragging. I think in order to fix it I will lower the front spindles 1/16 inch. Otherwise I'll have to raise the cross members. Plan A sounds easier. I'm going to try to get a bit further on this tonight. Later-
Modlbldr Posted December 12, 2016 Author Posted December 12, 2016 http:// Here is my side trim. Looks like the front of the door didnt get glued well enough. Ater looking i may not have enough space between the upper and lower trim. May have to remove it and start over on the bottom one. Later-
gautreau Posted December 13, 2016 Posted December 13, 2016 Great looking build so far. I may have to find one of these kits again to build another one. Keep the progress coming.
hjracing Posted December 13, 2016 Posted December 13, 2016 This build is coming really nice! I'll keep an eye on this one!
Intmd8r Posted December 14, 2016 Posted December 14, 2016 This is going to be one sweet lookking truck once its done!
Modlbldr Posted December 14, 2016 Author Posted December 14, 2016 Thanks for the replies guys. It keeps me encouraged. I began lowering the front spindles yesterday. I figured it would be best to also raise the center cross member, so I removed it already to raise it. I have a bit of things going on the rest of this week, but I'll be back on it after that. Keep watching.Later-
Oldriginal86 Posted January 16, 2017 Posted January 16, 2017 I like this one. After my Cameo is finished I'll get back on it. I cut up the frame so much that I decided to make a new one. Keep up the good work.
