Exotics_Builder Posted November 6, 2016 Posted November 6, 2016 Revell showed up at our November GTR meeting and brought along some test shot materials. Unfortunately, I only had my cellphone camera to take some shots, so the quality is less than desired. First is the recently announced 66 Suburban. Revell brought body parts for review: Second is the box art model for the Foose 56 Ford pickup. This model is a new tool based on the actual “CUSTOM” truck and is not stock nor has any stock parts. All of the body parts reflect the changes done to the actual truck:
'70 Grande Posted November 6, 2016 Posted November 6, 2016 Gerry,Thanks for posting these pics and providing the info! Both of these kits were on my "let's wait and see..." list, but your pics have probably moved both onto the "gotta get 'em!" list.
Luc Janssens Posted November 6, 2016 Posted November 6, 2016 The person who build the Foose truck, did a great paint job.
mike 51 Posted November 6, 2016 Posted November 6, 2016 (edited) I'm still disappointed that we finally we get a updated 56 F100... but it cant be built stock. Why did it "have" to be a Foose-mobile? A 2n1 or multiple versions would have been so much better. Edited November 6, 2016 by mike 51
om617 Posted November 6, 2016 Posted November 6, 2016 Thanks for sharing. Love the Suburban,and the fact it`s not a delivery/van.
mikemodeler Posted November 6, 2016 Posted November 6, 2016 I'm still disappointed that we finally we get a updated 56 F100... but it cant be built stock. Why did it "have" to be a Foose-mobile? A 2n1 or multiple versions would have been so much better. Considering the body mods made to the 1:1 F100, a 2n1 kit is probably out of the question. That said, until the kit is in our hands, not sure what all would have to be done to make one a stock vehicle, but I would suspect Revell does and a year or two from now we will see a stock version of the 56 F100.
mikemodeler Posted November 6, 2016 Posted November 6, 2016 Dang it Revell! I have been trying to scale back the purchases and you keep bringing us new stuff! I see a couple of each of those kits in my future, thanks for sharing Gerry!
Ron Hamilton Posted November 6, 2016 Posted November 6, 2016 That Suburban is a must have!! I like the looks of the Foose '56. I have been working over a stock '56 Big Window to make it look somewhat like a proper stock '56 Ford PU. If I get a Foose '56. I can display them side by side, as if the '56 stock F100 looks acceptable.
Daddyfink Posted November 7, 2016 Posted November 7, 2016 I don't build stock, so the Foose 56 is not an issue for me. Finally, a '56 that does not look like chewed bubble gum! Thanks for the pics!
lysleder Posted November 7, 2016 Posted November 7, 2016 I am excited too about the F-100. Not quite as hot on the Suburban though. But if I don't buy any Suburbans I'll probably make up for it in Foose pickup trucks.
LDO Posted November 7, 2016 Posted November 7, 2016 Nice! Love that pickup. The reason it can't be a 2 in 1 is that there is NOTHING stock on it. That would be 2 complete kits in one box.
Art Anderson Posted November 7, 2016 Posted November 7, 2016 Eagerly awaiting the Suburban! (might just have to convert it to a panel delivery, though Art
mrm Posted November 7, 2016 Posted November 7, 2016 That Foose truck...........I'm getting few for sure.
charlie8575 Posted November 7, 2016 Posted November 7, 2016 Both of these will be good sellers.I'll be picking up the Suburban for sure.Charlie Larkin
niteowl7710 Posted November 7, 2016 Posted November 7, 2016 Does this mean people will finally stop claiming the Foose '56 is just the old '56 kit with "donk wheels" that keep popping up ever since this kit was announced?
Nate Posted November 7, 2016 Posted November 7, 2016 No. I means that every other post will be "Why didn't the make it stock?"
Brett Barrow Posted November 7, 2016 Posted November 7, 2016 (edited) Is the Foose '56 just the old '56 with donk wheels? Why didn't they make it stock!?!? Edited November 7, 2016 by Brett Barrow
Rob Hall Posted November 7, 2016 Posted November 7, 2016 Looking forward to both. Interesting how the rear doors are a separate insert on the Suburban. Maybe to facilitatw making a tailgate w/ single rear window version?
Bob Ellis Posted November 7, 2016 Posted November 7, 2016 I'm still disappointed that we finally we get a updated 56 F100... but it cant be built stock. Why did it "have" to be a Foose-mobile? A 2n1 or multiple versions would have been so much better. Foose sells?
Bob Ellis Posted November 7, 2016 Posted November 7, 2016 I was going to mate a revell 1956 cab to an AMT 1953 chassis. but no more, I will buy a Foose
stavanzer Posted November 7, 2016 Posted November 7, 2016 Sadly, Nate and James, It will just double the number of comments. As for it being a "Foose-mobile" well I can't stand his stuff. I think his taste his awful. But, I want this kit to be a Huge success for Revell. There are generally no more than one or two kits that Revell shows in each Quarterly Flyer that I like or want. And that's OK with me. The more of these Revell sells, the more profit there is to plow into Chevy Suburban's and Ford Bronco's. So while I don't care for Foose or his work, this partnership has the chance to sell kits of Hot Cars to folks who may not normally buy Models. And I am all for that! I will predict that by December 2017, the Foose truck will have outsold the 'Burban by a 3 to 1 Ratio. Maybe Brett can clue us in a year from on how the sales went.
Rob Hall Posted November 7, 2016 Posted November 7, 2016 (edited) A stock new tool 56 would likely have to be a different tool from the custom Foose version, and since Revell has had a stock 56 for 50+ years, a new stock version probably wouldn't sell very well compared to the Foose one. mrm Posted November 7, 2016 Posted November 7, 2016 I really have hard time wrapping my head around some comments on this and other forums. No matter the subject matter, be it the vehicle represented, the scale or medium (diecast finished/plastic kit), to me personally, it would always make more sense to release something new, than to keep releasing something done many times before through the years. I'm not going to discuss whether Foose has taste or if his creations are top quality. Until I have achieved what Chip has, I don't consider myself in the right to judge his work. But I can take a neutral look at the alternative betwen releasing (yet another) stock F-100 or the Foose one, while trying to put myself in Revell's shoes. Aside from buying the kit to build as shown on the box art, how many would buy the stock one, just for its engine vs. the Foose. How many kits will be sold just for the wheels in the Foose kit vs. people buying the stock one just for a set of wheels, etc., etc.. I think it is easilly understandable, why the Foose would be considered the more profitable option. Now add to that the popularity of the Foose brand and the "new blood" this kit will attract and the choice becomes a no-brainer.
