The picture of the moving vans. Was this an ad for a new housing development?

I think the context was related to the SoCal housing boom, and how this particular subdivision was booming.

Head over to www.shorpy.com and browse away. You could easily spend months going through all of the images, and best of all, they are all large, high-resolution images. Build ideas galore, not to mention all the detail you can pick out to add to your projects, too.

Ya the housing boom was my thought as well. I'll have to check out that site as well. I don't remember what the site was but there used to be one one mostly Gas Stations from the past. That was a real interesting look at a time when the "pit" was about the most common way to work on the chassis of a car or truck.

People like to bag on Round2 for their Coca-Cola themed kits, but when you look through vintage images of general stores, grocers, etc. you understand just how prolific and permeating that brand has been for a century now...case in point below. '35  Chevy truck, according to the comments: https://www.shorpy.com/node/13874#comments

Coke is and was worldwide. When I lived in Turkey 1966-68, it was sold everywhere. A sealed bottle of Coke was one of the few things Americans were allowed to buy off the local market. And with the lack of available refrigeration, we kids thought you were supposed to drink it warm! When we returned to US we complained it was cold and hurt our teeth!

There's a lot going on in this image, but the long wheelbase '35(?) Chevy Panel Truck at right and the Liberty ice cream truck fit the bill:

Perhaps the picture wasn't taken on a Casual Friday. ?

Feels like a C-cab kind of Sunday:

Man I love these old pictures. Driving one of these old rigs would have been a real workout. not to mention loading all that lumber by hand.

What is that first red one from the left? It looks like a crew cab. Any kits or resin castings of it?

Yes, it does appear to be a crew cab style cab. Not sure of the maker, though, and very doubtful there is an aftermarket cab available. My truck spotter's guide book is packed away at the moment, but maybe someone can identify it.

Do you know anything about the little car under the tree in the next to last photo ?

I scroll through about 20 pages every night, saving some of the auto themed images. If you head to shorpy.com and use the search function, you can probably find the auto-themed images more easily, then read the comments for each image. Many times, commenters provide info regarding what is in the images, but I rarely read the comments, so I can't provide any context.

I think I prefer the original black and white photos to the colorized versions that make the rounds of Facebook.  Back in my art school days I had hand-tinted B&W prints (using water-based dyes), but I'd decided that wasn't something I wanted to pursue.
