Jim B Posted November 23, 2016 Posted November 23, 2016 (edited) So in my never ending quest to clear up the "Shelf of Shame", I have pulled my 1975 Kenworth K100 Oneida Freight out of moth-balls & onto the work bench. Why I do this when it's cold & I cannot use spray paint, I have no idea. Anyway, this is what I am going for: I started with the AMT Kenworth K123 kit back on 24 JAN 12, and this is where I am right now. I wanted to show you exactly how it looks with the dust & broken parts & all (ok, I did remove a dead bug from being wedged between the passenger seat & the doghouse). Frame: Engine (swapping out the Cummins NTA370 for a Caterpillar 3408; larger radiator from AMT K100 Aerodyne kit): Interior: Cab (replacing the narrow grill from the kit with the grill from the AMT K100 Aerodyne): And that's where we stand. More updates soon, I hope. Edited November 24, 2016 by Jim B

Jim B Posted November 23, 2016 Author Posted November 23, 2016 Thanks for the encouraging words. I don't think it will be done by Monday, though. Hopefully I'll make some progress this weekend.
Pete68 Posted November 23, 2016 Posted November 23, 2016 JimI like it . The V8 cat is a good change up. Nice work on the dash too
gatorincebu Posted November 23, 2016 Posted November 23, 2016 Jim, I am glad to see this one back on your workbench. The interior looks pretty good. The paint on the chassis and cab looks good .I don't think it will require a whole lot of painting. I like the engine swap and the new radiator as well. Go for it !! Be Well Gator
Jim B Posted November 23, 2016 Author Posted November 23, 2016 Thanks, Gator. The frame really just needs a shower (five years of dust really adds up), then all of the parts that come off in the shower will have to be put back on. The engine is in primer right now so that will have to be painted & detailed. I think the hardest part will be running the plumbing for the air & exhaust. At this point the cab is just reglue the steering column, then put it all together.
redneckrigger Posted November 24, 2016 Posted November 24, 2016 Nothing wrong with a rebuilder........................I find myself using more recycled parts than new on every build! Nice work so far...................keep the pictures coming!
Jim B Posted November 24, 2016 Author Posted November 24, 2016 Oh, it's not a rebuilder. It's a shelved project that was never completed, but yes, there will be a few recycled parts on it.
Superpeterbilt Posted November 24, 2016 Posted November 24, 2016 Looks good Jim. Its about time you built something! Lol. The truck is off to a great start.
DRIPTROIT 71 Posted November 24, 2016 Posted November 24, 2016 I like it!! What you have so far looks great!! I'm looking forward to seeing more!
Tesla Posted November 24, 2016 Posted November 24, 2016 What you've accomplished so far looks good and I like the changes you have planned!
Jim B Posted November 24, 2016 Author Posted November 24, 2016 Thanks, guys. Yes, it's good to be back working on a truck. I did manage to finish up a car, though! We'll have to see how it goes, but I can tell you I'm looking forward to seeing more progress, too!
extmcdriver Posted November 26, 2016 Posted November 26, 2016 Great work, looking forward to more updates.
Jim B Posted November 28, 2016 Author Posted November 28, 2016 Here's this weekend update. The cab is mostly done. Air deflector still need to be painted, decaled, & mounted; and the P/E logos & door handles need to be attached. There is also some small touch-up painting that needs to be done, but it's a lot closer than it's been in years.
DRIPTROIT 71 Posted November 28, 2016 Posted November 28, 2016 Looks great!! Nice touch adding the corner posts to the windshield. Great work!
Jim B Posted November 28, 2016 Author Posted November 28, 2016 Thanks. They didn't come out as nice as I'd wanted, but they're ok.

Jim B Posted November 28, 2016 Author Posted November 28, 2016 Thanks, guys. It has some issues, but I like it.
