robertburns Posted November 29, 2016 Author Posted November 29, 2016 Totally would. Probably a couple of em. I could cram the Revell 90 LX chassis/suspension under it (with a little lengthining) and build in several configurations. Here's the LTD/Fairmont Futura Mashup I was referring to. I see what you're saying now with the 2dr. That's cool Yes, that chassis should work as would the 87 Tbird since it's a Fox. It's nice to see the model building innovative spirit 1
CapSat 6 Posted November 29, 2016 Posted November 29, 2016 If I saw pics of the bodies in question and they looked good, I would buy two of the Polaras.
dimaxion Posted November 29, 2016 Posted November 29, 2016 My financial situation is rather poor . Disable / retired on fixed income .......... If the monies would be available to me for such purchase . I would chose the Cherokee . Lacking interior or even a Promo Style Chassis would place this choice at a very low priority for me . Being honest is what you are seeking . Thanx ..

robertburns Posted November 30, 2016 Author Posted November 30, 2016 See the second post of this thread.I think he meant the model bodies, not the real one
CapSat 6 Posted December 1, 2016 Posted December 1, 2016 (edited) I think he meant the model bodies, not the real oneCorrct, Robert. If they were something I could work with, I would definitely buy two Polaras. Would you consider doing a '70 instead? That would be my preference, because that was the car I came home from the hospital in, and was my Dad's driver for about 6 years. If not, then I would try to convert one from a '71. For the chassis, I would consider modifying one of the excellent B-Body chassis that are available, or at worst, a 1/24 Monogram B Body chassis of some sort. The engine bay would have to be reworked somewhat as C Body engine rooms were a bit unique. Lots of advanced modelers seem to be pretty interested in Mopar C Bodies of any kind. Tom99 Posted December 2, 2016 Posted December 2, 2016 The 1971 Dodge Polara , would be the only one of the three that I would buy.

I would have to do a '71 first because of my reference material, but I could do a '70 later. It's only a front and rear bumper change. What's nice about the C-body is that there are a lot of variants with some changes
robertburns Posted December 6, 2016 Author Posted December 6, 2016 Thank you to everyone who voted ill be working on the Polara after the Caprice is done Cheers, Rob
om617 Posted December 7, 2016 Posted December 7, 2016 Great news Robert. Is the Polara going to be 4door only or have you thought about 2door hardtop as well?
RandyEarle Posted December 10, 2016 Posted December 10, 2016 I'm interested in the '71 Polara, but I'd rather have a Plymouth Fury GT, I had one that was a 2 door high speed pursuit car from the Penna State Police, and yes it was a 2 door with a 440.

RandyEarle Posted December 11, 2016 Posted December 11, 2016 (edited) Yes, I had a real one. Edited December 11, 2016 by RandyEarle 1
om617 Posted December 11, 2016 Posted December 11, 2016 would you buy one?I indeed would. Would even make deposit,it`s risky business with this since so many want this or thatbut back off when avaliable. I wonder if the MPC Dukes of Hazzard police car could be good as a donor for chassis since it`s also a C-body.

An all new body model kit costs anywhere from $500 to $1000 to produce up front. There's also a resin kit on eBay of a 1970s Chysler 300 which can be converted By the way, the Dukes of Hazard Monaco was a B-body. The 1970 LTD might work though
Carmak Posted December 16, 2016 Posted December 16, 2016 I have been working with low volume injection tooling for 15+ years in the medical device field. Is you plan:* print the master and pour the injection mold components.* print the mold* print the master to confirm the geometry and CNC machine the tool. I will share with you that our low volume presses would not be able to fill and pack a body tool or any origin. The clamping pressure required by the surface area is way to high. You could easily be into the 50 ton+ range. You may need to shoot multi-piece bodies. I would rather have an ABS multi-piece body than a resin body.I am glad to hear someone talking about low volume tooling to aftermarket parts. My vote is for the 71 Polara 2drHT or 4drHT!Carmak

Carmak Plan is to either: Print the masters and pour the mold using steel filled injection molding resin Or CNC the molds. There's a CNC department where I work and can get an employee discount Yes, multi piece body for sure. Simple is better and cheaper for making, shipping, and storing. Once the model is built, no one could tell the difference Do you make molds as a service? If so, I'd like to discuss this project with you. Thank you for commenting
charlie8575 Posted December 19, 2016 Posted December 19, 2016 Here's the deal... they are all great subjects. I would be hard pressed to buy them just as a body, with no game plan to have the entire car.. whether it be a complete resin kit or a trans kit to fit on a specific chassis. If you said we "may" offer the interior, glass and chassis at a later date, I'd just wait. With the exception of the Fox LTD/Fairmont, these kits would have to be complete to get me to even consider them. The Fox cars can use the Revell 1990 Mustang. The 1969-73 C-Body underpinnings were a fair bit different than the 1965-68 C-Body, the only other full-size Mopar even somewhat readily available.I'd probably be in for one of all of them.
davysmodels Posted December 19, 2016 Posted December 19, 2016 The Jeep Cherokee.......Had one for 20 years ('88 Cherokee). Great vehicle. Take this kit and make the 4 door and then a conversion to a pickup. The Jeep is my first choice. Then the Dodge, and Fairmont (if the 1977 to 80 body style)

Thank you for commenting I am an engineer at a medical company that has used multiple methods to make short run (less than 1000 and sometimes less than 50) parts. My company does not do it as a service but I know two former co-workers that are now on their own that may. Nice looking masters. Are those printed or SLA? Carmak
gray07 Posted December 27, 2016 Posted December 27, 2016 i like them all, I like seeing real cars, not everyone has a Camaro/mustang or 57 chevy, ive had all of these at one time, but would love to see a fury gt too
Sport Suburban Posted December 28, 2016 Posted December 28, 2016 71 Polara 4 dr I would make into a Police car. Now a 70 Fury GT! I would have to have!
