RandyB. Posted November 30, 2016 Posted November 30, 2016 1970 Ford Galaxie 500 4 door sedan all buttoned up. Dealer installed Boss 429, 4 spd. Hurst Shifter " no frills, maximum bang for the buck" car. Well at least it sounds good anyway!
Fast Floyd 2 Posted November 30, 2016 Posted November 30, 2016 Looks Great!!! I need to re-build mine. Maybe one day!!
Againmikewins Posted November 30, 2016 Posted November 30, 2016 I hope mine comes out half as good as this! Simple and to the point!
PARTSMARTY Posted November 30, 2016 Posted November 30, 2016 Great build-4 dr.-4 spd.-gotta love it!!!
carman1 Posted November 30, 2016 Posted November 30, 2016 Really nice ,man what if you could actually order a car like that from the factory, that would make things real interesting today !
donb Posted November 30, 2016 Posted November 30, 2016 Really looks like a daily family driver. Even with the 429!
espo Posted November 30, 2016 Posted November 30, 2016 Nice looking "Plain Brown Wrapper" . This reminds me of a Whiskey Hauler from an old movie . I think it was called Thunder Road or something like that. The character who was the driver of the Hot Rod hauler got to well known and ordered a new Ford sedan with the biggest engine at the time and it looked just like your model. They never did catch him.
mecklm Posted November 30, 2016 Posted November 30, 2016 Espo, the movie was "White Lightning" with Gator played by Burt Reynolds. The car was a 1971 Galaxie 500 in brown with black steel wheels. This car is remarkably close considering it wasn't necessarily meant to replicate it. Outstanding job - I just love sleepers like this!
bbowser Posted November 30, 2016 Posted November 30, 2016 Well done, great looking grocery getter. I'll bet you could surprise a couple of Camaros or GTOs with that

I think I was mixing two different movies with the same basic storyline. I remember "White Lightning" now and that is what I was thinking off. Thunder Road was an earlier movie with Robert Mitchem, I think that's how he spelled his name. In that one he had I think a '51 Ford.
El Caballo Posted September 12, 2017 Posted September 12, 2017 I have the same model and was going to paint it the same color as an homage to one of my favorite films from the 70's, White Lightning with Burt Reynolds. Maybe I'll do the Las Vegas cop car from Diamonds are Forever instead.
RAMBENNA Posted September 13, 2017 Posted September 13, 2017 sweet , love the big cars and yours looks great
Eric Macleod Posted September 13, 2017 Posted September 13, 2017 Excellent. Just the way I'd want one in 1:1 scale.
Hmann68 Posted September 13, 2017 Posted September 13, 2017 If that's not a sleeper I don't know what is! Good work!
TarheelRick Posted September 13, 2017 Posted September 13, 2017 Really sweet Ford sleeper. If it is like the car in White Lightening it would also have an automatic transmission along with the four-speed. When "Gator" was running it the sound track had him shifting gears, but when he parked it you could see him put the column-shift lever into Park. Still was a pretty good movie.
