Is Round 2 even doing any new tools?

I was under the assumption that their sole mission was to re-pop old kits, thus the "Round 2" name.

Steve

You're probably right, wishful thinking on my part :(

thank you all for your positive comments and encouragement.

David G...as per espo, what looks to be a second radio near the steering column is in fact the heating and air conditioning control

Kelson... the paint I used was Testor's ModelMaster Arctic Blue Metallic #2702 over a gloss black base.

This is an absolute fantastic job. I've had this kit on my want list, as I love 60's era GM cars like this. Your review was what I was afraid of, however.

I could always just get a 40 or 50% off coupon at Hobby Lobby or Michael's and buy this?

Nice job.  I recently bought one and your building tips will help.  I find that building challenging kits like this one makes me a better modeler.

I love the Model, and all things Pontiac. The Only improvements. I could suggest to make this terrific car  better, would be to color the Pontiac emblems front and back in some clear red, the Park lights in front with some amber, the rear backup lights with a little flat white, give the side rear emblems a little black wash. Finally scrub off the year from the bumper's, and hang some plates on this it deserves to be driven.

That's where/how I got mine. B)

Very nice looking 1965 Grand Prix Carl. Did it come with those tires? Soon as I see one of these at my local hobby store I will pick it up.

Thank you all for the overwhelmingly positive response to my posting!

Randy B... the tires and wheels are the ones that are provided in the kit

Loved it. You did a great job.

The easiest way to give up on this hobby is to start comparing yourself to other builders. Don't do it.

Build your little dreams for yourself.

I would be proud of having this one on my shelf.

Well, you probably already know what I think about the subject of old annuals.

They're not always the easiest thing to build, but if subject matter is important to you, there are no alternatives, & with a little skill & a lot of love, they can build into exceptionally nice models.

I've said it a million times before, but I'll say it again, A guy can only build so many '57 Chevies, '32 Fords & Corvettes before he gets real tired of them.

If it wasn't for annuals, I most likely would have given up the hobby by now.

You did a very nice job on this '65 & it will make a great addition to your collection.

I can build 1957 Fords all year long. But that's me. I have a love affair with the car:wub:

Everybody has their own thing Tulio.

I quit building for about 10 years because I got bored.

I don't get excited about customs or race cars.

Factory stock is what I love & before I was able to start finding some variety in kits from places like ebay, I totally lost interest in the available subject matter.

Since that revelation, I've been more excited about building than I've ever been.

I've got enough old annuals in my stash now to keep me busy for years to come.

I think I'm back to stay! :D

Carl's '65 reminds me that I have at least 7 Pontiac Bonneville's of different years and several Grand Prix's  waiting in my stash, & I can't wait to get started on all of them!

Well, I reckon you did a top-notch job on it.

I built one of these, boxed as a Prestige Series kit. I loved it.

Personally, I enjoy wrestling difficult kits into shape.

I like the vinyl roof and the interior looks crisp!

Although few and far between, they are.

They just released a 2016 Camaro SS in both glue and snap varieties. I have the snap kit and it's incredible. I saw the glue kit tooling test shots at NNL-East, and it's incredibly nice. If you want to build something without a lot of BMF, give one of these a shot. I think you'll be very pleased.

P.S.: To the original poster- nice work on the GP.

Nice technique. Looks remarkably like Blue Charcoal.

I grabbed one of these a couple of months back to correct a GP that suffered at the hands of a 13-year-old (me) in the late 1980s. Mine was molded fairly cleanly. I haven't really gone through it for warp, but mine doesn't look like it has too much.

YOu must really love the car to turn a bad kit into this fine a finished model. I've face similar difficulties. Like an AMT (i think) 70 Charger that has a grill nothing like the original.
