phoneguy Posted May 11, 2008 Posted May 11, 2008 now on the bench... I did a casting for the 5 hole budds with the old AMT Firestones.
EaglePassNative Posted May 13, 2008 Posted May 13, 2008 Nice looking old White in the works. Any luck finding any of the White photo etched emblems? I have been looking for some myself but so far missed a couple on the "auction site", read that, was outbid both times. I have a hood conversion for the old White 9000 also, just need those pesky emblems.
phoneguy Posted May 13, 2008 Author Posted May 13, 2008 Rob, to be honest, I haven't even thought about the emblems til now. I'll need them for this 4000 and I also have a 9000 hood soon to hit the bench.
Ayatollah Posted May 18, 2008 Posted May 18, 2008 Good candidate for a 12V71 That's an oldie but a goodie!
Jim B Posted May 18, 2008 Posted May 18, 2008 Can you get a 12V71 under the hood of a 4000? Those engines are pretty big.
phoneguy Posted May 18, 2008 Author Posted May 18, 2008 The V12 would not fit without extending the hood. I just barely got the V8 in there with a few modifications to the engine. Sounds like a monster idea though.
Ayatollah Posted May 18, 2008 Posted May 18, 2008 You gotta strecth them, but being so square it's crapshoot. Or do a cabover and let it hang out the back The White is a winner either way though. If you really had one with a 12V71 I'm sure you would have pulled it out by now with Diesel at $4.25/Gallon 1-2 MPG UUUUGH!
Ayatollah Posted June 4, 2008 Posted June 4, 2008 That's beautiful! Glad you went with a green screamer! The wheels, too.
ns4ever Posted June 4, 2008 Posted June 4, 2008 like it. kind of reminds me of spider mikes truck from convoy, with the colour scheme. think the wheels look great, really suit the white well andy
phoneguy Posted June 4, 2008 Author Posted June 4, 2008 Thanks guys. It was a fun build, giving me something "a little different" to sit on my shelf. And a big to Chris (Sourkraut) for having the hood in stock. Great guy to work with.
locoengr Posted June 8, 2008 Posted June 8, 2008 Jerry, where in the world did you find the "bolts and nuts" decals? make 'em?
phoneguy Posted June 9, 2008 Author Posted June 9, 2008 Actually they are HO scale Burlington Northern decals.
Old Albion Posted June 15, 2008 Posted June 15, 2008 (edited) Jerry, Very Nice build! I really like the old White trucks. With regards to nuts, bolts and rivets try this: www.scalehardware.com Edited June 15, 2008 by Old Albion
ABC Auto Industry Posted June 23, 2008 Posted June 23, 2008 The V12 would not fit without extending the hood. I just barely got the V8 in there with a few modifications to the engine. Sounds like a monster idea though. Some rigs in the 70's had recessed firewalls to accommodate larger engines without stretching the hood.
