VAcountry Posted December 17, 2016 Posted December 17, 2016 This build took me about four months. Just working a couple hours on it here and there. I did try my hand with a photo etch kit, but it didn't turn out too good in my opinion. Put plug wires and battery cables under the hood. The paint is Model Master Burgundy Red Metallic with Model Master High Gloss Clear. I couldn't get the foil to go around the door handles right so I said forget it and painted them. It's only my fourth build and it has come out better than the others. Hope everybody enjoys.
VAcountry Posted December 17, 2016 Author Posted December 17, 2016 (edited) I did do the interior just stock black with buckles and straight pins for the levers and turn knobs for the a/c and stereo. Did put some embossing powder in the floorboard for carpet but you can't even tell it. I glued the steering wheel upside down too. Edited December 17, 2016 by VAcountry Forgot some stuff
donb Posted December 17, 2016 Posted December 17, 2016 This is really nice build Randal. Excellent attention to the details. Well done!
Geno Posted December 17, 2016 Posted December 17, 2016 Looks great to me, job well done, especially being only your 4th build.
AC Norton Posted December 17, 2016 Posted December 17, 2016 ........look's terrific, Randall...color is great with white stripe's too.....tell me,,, which AMT 70 Chevelle kit was used to build this, as you know over the year's several have been out, because I don't have one, but will buy the issue you have there.....the Ace..... I did do the interior just stock black with buckles and straight pins for the levers and turn knobs for the a/c and stereo. Did put some embossing powder in the floorboard for carpet but you can't even tell it. I glued the steering wheel upside down too.
kelson Posted December 17, 2016 Posted December 17, 2016 Turned out nice, just remember with patience your skill level will get better and Welcome to the forum!they're lots of modelers here to offer advice and tips.
tbill Posted December 17, 2016 Posted December 17, 2016 very nice build, the color combo is fantastic ! I did a monogram 70 awhile back and used a P/E kit on it, but only used the badges and a few other bits, some of it seemed too large for the car. super looking build
TooOld Posted December 17, 2016 Posted December 17, 2016 Looks great Randal , love that paint job ! Just a little oops with the steering wheel . . . we've all done that more times than anybody will admit !
shoopdog Posted December 17, 2016 Posted December 17, 2016 You did a heck of a job for your fourth build, keep it up.
JerseyRed Posted December 17, 2016 Posted December 17, 2016 I only have a few models under my belt and if mine comes out better than the last one I'm a happy kat. Your paint looks good, stripes are good, stance is cool and the interior is nice. Can't complain about that! What did you use for the seat belts? They look pretty decent too.
satterwhite78 Posted December 17, 2016 Posted December 17, 2016 Looks good enuff to be on my shelf! Sharp Chevy!
VAcountry Posted December 18, 2016 Author Posted December 18, 2016 Thanks for a the positive feedback. I'm happy with all my builds from my first one. Each one I've built has looked better than the last. I just need a steady hand when hand painting. That mess is hard sometimes
mikemodeler Posted December 18, 2016 Posted December 18, 2016 Looks nice from where I am sitting! Nice details and clean building, keep the coming!
Snake45 Posted December 19, 2016 Posted December 19, 2016 Very, very nice indeed! I'd be proud to have built that myself. Well done and model on!
Jim N Posted December 23, 2016 Posted December 23, 2016 Looks real nice. Two things to keep in mind:The steering wheel will likely be unnoticeable when the model is finished. The second is that you will likely notice the short comings of your work long before anyone else.
High octane Posted December 23, 2016 Posted December 23, 2016 Lookin' good Randal as you did a really nice job on that "bowtie."
MeatMan Posted December 23, 2016 Posted December 23, 2016 Very nice work! Paint looks great! I love the color choice.
