Quick GMC Posted December 27, 2016 Posted December 27, 2016 Not much progress, but I did start by fitting the PE pieces to all the body work and making sure I make all the mods I need to first. not sure how often I'll get to work on it. I do have my new (5th) modeling space mostly set up. Still some work to go, but it's functional. I wanted to keep going on my 29 Ford and 911 GT1, but I don't have the spray booth fully functional and setup. Until I can make the time (with a lot noise) to drill the holes in the wall for the vents, i won't be able to paint. I am in the garage now, due to our new baby due in March taking over the last room of the house where I had everything. Can't paint in the garage without a booth because the vapors go right through the attic and into the house. Pregnant women are incredibly sensitive to odors Anyway, I'll post better pics when it's 100% finished, but here's my new space. now for the model Hobby Design setCenter piece from the kit. Outside pieces are PE. Still need to ass the trim pieces and brackets when ready All these pieces to replace the 1 kit piece
Funkychiken Posted December 27, 2016 Posted December 27, 2016 Well congratulations on having a baby on the way, your set up looks great & the kit with the details will be interesting to watch...
Mooneyzs Posted December 28, 2016 Posted December 28, 2016 You have a sweet set up for sure. Your work bench looks great.
geetee66 Posted December 28, 2016 Posted December 28, 2016 I like your workshop, too!I've seen these super-detail parts for sale, so it'll be interesting to see how you get along with them.
Bennyg Posted December 28, 2016 Posted December 28, 2016 I just ordered the Hobby Design detail set today. Will be watching. I've got other projects to finish first.Ben
JerseyRed Posted December 28, 2016 Posted December 28, 2016 Will be watching. I've got other projects to finish first.BenSame here. But I'm really anxious to get started on this.
BVC500 Posted December 28, 2016 Posted December 28, 2016 Awesome set up and can't wait to see more of the FXX K build.
Quick GMC Posted December 28, 2016 Author Posted December 28, 2016 Thanks guys. This won't be a fast progressing build, but I'll do what I can, when I can. I doubt I'll get time today, but maybe tomorrow night
Quick GMC Posted March 22, 2018 Author Posted March 22, 2018 Acu-Stion shock set. It's a shame they won't really be seen when this is done, but I couldn't help myself. Had to chop the tops of the kit shocks off and migrate them to the new ones.
Quick GMC Posted March 22, 2018 Author Posted March 22, 2018 Not sure if I will keep these the way they are, not happy with the hubs. Centered the discs on some putty on a dremel and spun them with some coarse sanding sticks. Then did a black wash, then buffed the rotor faces with a rigid swab. Then did a light coat of Alclad Smoke, enough to get color, but little enough to leave the metallic rotor finish
Quick GMC Posted March 22, 2018 Author Posted March 22, 2018 Lots of filling and sanding on the body parts. Lot's of pieces to glue together to make the single panels. Not everything needed to be filled as it all won't be seen when done, but I took the opportunity to practice. the last 4 pics show where i taped up the door panels to the door skins so I could fit the 3rd piece, the end of the door, which is the same color as the body. Then I removed the door panel so it could be painted separately. Finally ready for primer
Quick GMC Posted March 22, 2018 Author Posted March 22, 2018 Acu Stion fuel filler set. Still not 100% clear how it goes together, no instructions, but I think I got it. Shown next to the kit piece
Jhedir6 Posted March 22, 2018 Posted March 22, 2018 (edited) WoW. Awesome. I like the discs man, I think they look like ceramic discs. The detail sets are looking good. Looking forward to more. Edited March 22, 2018 by Jhedir6
Lee Yoder Posted March 23, 2018 Posted March 23, 2018 Wow, a long time between posts, but its all good, gotta live life! Subscribed and watching. Could you please post the Accu-Stion part numbers? Later, Lee

Could you please post the Accu-Stion part numbers? Later, Lee Lee, here is the full set. I just bought the shocks, filler cap set and LED brake light sets http://acustion.net/shop/each-products/act-0027kits-1-24-fxx-k-full-transformer-set.-1-24-fxx-k/?sl=en I'm still building. I started other projects in between, like the F430 Challenge and R34 GTR, but about the same progress on both. New baby and owning my own business doesn't allow for much build time. All the body pieces are ready for paint and I have a bunch of other pieces in primer, so next progress should be significant Edited March 23, 2018 by Quick GMC
Funkychiken Posted March 24, 2018 Posted March 24, 2018 Excellent progress and thanks for sharing the details! What filler and sanding stick brands do you use please? All your PE work looks awesome, are you using superglue, if so, what brand? Cheers!
Rider Posted March 24, 2018 Posted March 24, 2018 Great work on the rotors. Man you have a sweet set up.
Twokidsnosleep Posted March 24, 2018 Posted March 24, 2018 Great looking workspace set up. Following along with the build...good luck

The sanding sticks are from several places. Some are Flexi File which I really do not care for. They sand fine, but fall apart. My favorites, I think I used to get from Hobby Linc: https://www.hobbylinc.com/cgi-bin/pic.cgi?t=pics_user_gallery&item_i=79381&pic_user_i=124612&pic_pic_i=12185 And my other favorite are the fat oners with one side with 2 rough grits and the other side with 2 polishing grits. They come as a gift from Scale Hardware, but I haven't bought from them since they changed hands, so not sure if they still offer them
Quick GMC Posted March 26, 2018 Author Posted March 26, 2018 I copied some ideas from Randy Ditton, I even ordered the same fittings from the Train store. I realize how much work he put into his details and I won't be getting that crazy, but some extra detail that will be seen when the model is finished will be nice. I started with these cooler lines that go up and over the back of the tranny and into the R/H cooler. I have to add hose clamps now, which have always been a nightmare for me.
