57peppershaker Posted January 7, 2017 Posted January 7, 2017 I've never seen the kit re-issued and the kits on eBay are scary prices. Other than wheels & decals, are there any other specific parts to the pickup ? Would a kitbash of a regular ext cab F150 & a Lightning cover most of it ? Quote
Luc Janssens Posted January 7, 2017 Posted January 7, 2017 (edited) The front clip has the grille area molded open, with a separate insert for the grilles, on the plated tree. it also has engraved H/D badging on the fenders where normally the F150 is and it also has another end piece for the exhaust...there might be more but don't have a flareside supercab kit handy... mikemodeler Posted January 7, 2017 Posted January 7, 2017 It also included a trailer and HD motorcycle.Hard to say if the molds have been modified but if they haven't, then there is a chance it could be reissued, depending on how it sold first time around. Quote
Mark Posted January 7, 2017 Posted January 7, 2017 H-D licensing is probably the thing that would tip the scales one way or another on a reissue. If Chevy, GMC, or Ram are currently offering a 1:1 H-D edition pickup, they probably won't want a Ford kit out there at the same time. Quote
tim boyd Posted January 7, 2017 Posted January 7, 2017 (edited) The 2001 Harley DynaGlide Sport bike was a terrific and unsung addition to this kit - one that makes the kit well worth adding to your collection, and (due to the licensing/economics issues Mark mentions) one that is highly unlikely to be reissued. I did a how-to on building the bike in factory stock form (painted to replicate 2001 Harley Concord Purple), and also another article on kitbashing the bike into more of a mild chopper style form, in two issues of MCM in the mid 2000's Might be worth looking up if you want to build the bike yourself..... More photos of the kitbashed version here....TIM Edited January 7, 2017 by tim boyd Quote
Daddyfink Posted January 7, 2017 Posted January 7, 2017 My LHS at the time of release only ordered two of them and I only bought one. Should have grabbed them both! It would be nice to get the bike back, would be a nice extra for other kits or dioramas. Quote
keyser Posted January 7, 2017 Posted January 7, 2017 IIRC, the front end is from the SVT Lightning. These trucks had same running gear as that truck, correct me if needed, Tim. The recent HD trucks didn't have special powerplants I don't believe. Still see these here in TX, along with Blackwoods. Cool kit, found mine the other day Quote

Daddyfink Posted January 7, 2017 Posted January 7, 2017 I don't have an SVT to compare, but here is the box art and the HD art. I know the SVT is an actual picture, but, it does give you a fair idea on where it was compared to the HD truck Quote
57peppershaker Posted January 7, 2017 Author Posted January 7, 2017 Thanks for pics & info gents. Tim those bikes look like 1:1s !I scored a cheap Lightning kit hence my question. A very similar HD pickup should be do-able.Tho the HD set is now added to my want list. Quote
djmcguire Posted January 8, 2017 Posted January 8, 2017 Lightnings and H-Ds have different front ends...the lower front portion of the bumper is different on the two trucks as the Lightning has a one-piece bumper cover and the H-D has a black painted bumper and a lower front valence added on.Pretty familiar with Lightnings and H-Ds as I have a one-owner 2001 Lightning with about 9,800 miles on it. Againmikewins Posted January 8, 2017 Posted January 8, 2017 (edited) I have just picked up a Lindberg F150 Flareside 4x4. I have a Revell F150 Supercab coming from Ebay and I'll be getting the HD Set tomorrow for a friend from a steeeeep trade. My Lindberg has the 4.6L V8. I'm not sure what the Revell trucks have included. According to Wikipedia, the HD should have the 5.4L supercharged V8. Can anyone confirm this? Does anyone have any insight?Edit- according to the Revell and AMT boxes, it's looking as if they're including the 4.6L V8. Edited January 8, 2017 by Againmikewins Quote
Atmobil Posted January 9, 2017 Posted January 9, 2017 I'm no expert but I got the HD kit and I had a look now. The engine in the kit does not have a supercharger on it. Quote
Againmikewins Posted January 9, 2017 Posted January 9, 2017 I'm no expert but I got the HD kit and I had a look now. The engine in the kit does not have a supercharger on it.Thanks for looking. It seems Revell might have dropped the ball on that one. The Revell '99 Lightning has the super charged 5.4. Weird that the HD edition wouldn't have that included, seeing that Revell has that tooled up. Sorry to hijack this thread. I should have my HD Set today and I'll take some pictures of it for you. Atmobil Posted January 9, 2017 Posted January 9, 2017 I did a bit of a online search to be sure. I found the instructions for the Lighting and the 97- F150 XLT on the Revell website and here you can see how the engines look:97 F150 XLT:http://manuals.hobbico.com/rmx/85-7215.pdf99 SVT F-150 Lighting:http://manuals.hobbico.com/rmx/85-7223.pdfThe HD kit has the same engine as the 97 F-150 XLT but now that I can sit here and look at all of the instructions and the parts for my HD kit I can see that the HD kit has some of the Lightning parts in the box. There is actually a supercharger on the partstree. The HD kit has different front seats with HD logo on them and the Lightings stearingwheel. It also has the same suspension as the Lighting but different wheels. Other bespoke parts that I see is different front pumper and step bars for the sides of the cab. It also has the radiator shroud/core support of the Lighting kit. Quote
Mike999 Posted January 9, 2017 Posted January 9, 2017 I found one of these in weird condition, cheap at a flea market. The truck and motorcycle are both complete. But the kit is missing the whole upper part (bed) of the trailer. The trailer fenders, wheels, tires and everything else is still in the box. Oh, and 1 decal for the trailer is missing. I guess the original owner wanted that part of the trailer for another project. Even missing the main part of the trailer, I was still very happy to find it. Quote
djmcguire Posted January 9, 2017 Posted January 9, 2017 Not all Harley trucks were supercharged...and 2000 was the only year of the extended cab.2000 = Naturally Aspirated 5.4 Extended Cab2001 = Naturally Aspirated 5.4 Super Crew Cab2002/2003 = Supercharged 5.4 Super Crew Cab Quote
57peppershaker Posted January 9, 2017 Author Posted January 9, 2017 Great info. Anybody got pics of their builds ? Quote
Againmikewins Posted January 10, 2017 Posted January 10, 2017 Hey everyone, I have taken some photos of the HD F-150 kit. I've only included the truck, as that's the topic at hand. I'll have the Revell '97 F-150 Supercab in my hands in the next few days and will upload comparison pictures. Kind of wish that the decal sheet was in better shape. Hopefully they'll be okay. I miss the old days with Revellogram using name brand tires! These look great! They included 8 tires; 4 for the truck and 2 for the trailer. I guess it made more sense for them to include the extra two than delete them from the kit. See ya later! Quote
57peppershaker Posted January 10, 2017 Author Posted January 10, 2017 Thanks Mike, that's a great help. The wheels look very similar to those on the Chevy SSR pickup ? Quote
Againmikewins Posted January 10, 2017 Posted January 10, 2017 Thanks Mike, that's a great help. The wheels look very similar to those on the Chevy SSR pickup ? I'm not sure what the SSR wheels look like, but these look really close to the 1:1 version. Quote
57peppershaker Posted January 10, 2017 Author Posted January 10, 2017 Nice 1:1, is it yours Mike ? Quote
Againmikewins Posted January 10, 2017 Posted January 10, 2017 Nice 1:1, is it yours Mike ?The picture I screenshot off of Google is, lol. No, unfortunately it's not mine. My ex's dad had a 2002 HD edition. He bought it brand new and they gave him a cool motorcycle chain key chain and other neat stuff. He only had the truck for a few years, but it was really nice. tim boyd Posted January 11, 2017 Posted January 11, 2017 Those Revell F150 Harley Davidson kit wheels also make a great source for kitbashing other model builds. Here's how they look on my kitbashed Revell 2007 Mustang GT Convertible (a replica of my own 1/1 in all aspects except, sadly, those killer wheels!) Cheers....TB 1 Quote
