bobthehobbyguy Posted January 14, 2017 Posted January 14, 2017 Was looking at a jar of peanut butter. Back of label has warning stating it contains peanuts. Duh.

TarheelRick Posted January 14, 2017 Posted January 14, 2017 (edited) One of my favorites is the #1 step of any new small appliance or anything else that comes in a box. #1. Open box. Well duh, the instructions are inside the box, how am I supposed to know to open the box?My second favorite is the list of side-effects on medicines: "May cause diarrhea. May cause constipation" or the ever popular "May cause drowsiness" on a box of sleeping aides. Edited January 14, 2017 by TarheelRick
bobthehobbyguy Posted January 14, 2017 Author Posted January 14, 2017 My other favorite is the bags of microwaveable popcorn corn. Warning contents may be hot.I understand that some of the warnings are a result of lawsuits but I hope some of them are just overlill.
DaveM Posted January 14, 2017 Posted January 14, 2017 On a box of Top Care medicated bandages... "For external use only".
Ace-Garageguy Posted January 14, 2017 Posted January 14, 2017 On a box of Top Care medicated bandages... "For external use only". Musta seen this guy...
10thumbs Posted January 15, 2017 Posted January 15, 2017 Man I love these topics. We humans can live without junky products and chemical BLAH_BLAH_BLAH_BLAH in honey and mustard and so forth....Beware: The contents could contain natural ingredients.Puke.
HomerS Posted January 15, 2017 Posted January 15, 2017 I don't know if it's still there but years ago while vacationing in Florida, there is a small pond as you come out from The Pier in St Pete. Posted in several places was a sign stating boldly "Do Not Taunt The Alligators". Even before the Animal Planet channel, i would think this would be common sense but I'm sure someone got too close. I wish i could find my picture of that sign

espo Posted January 15, 2017 Posted January 15, 2017 Frogs Leap happens to be one of our favorite wineries. On the label on the back of the bottle with all the required warnings required by every governing body you can think of, the story goes that during the original labeling application the owners were so frustrated if them they put on their label "Open other end". Next time you see one of their bottles check out the label, and if you like a KILLER Zinfandel than buy it and find out for your self.
HomerS Posted January 15, 2017 Posted January 15, 2017 One of the best commercials (I think it was on the nationally syndicated Bob & Tom Shot)....this safety moment was brought to you by the Nine Digit Tool Company.
Pete J. Posted January 15, 2017 Posted January 15, 2017 I wish I had saved it, but here in California the Payday candy bar has such a warning on the label, as if the pictures of peanut and wording "peanut caramel bar" aren't enough. Come on folks! Take some responsibility will you!

maltsr Posted January 15, 2017 Posted January 15, 2017 Head and Shoulders shampoo has "For External Use Only" on the label. ????
Tom Geiger Posted January 15, 2017 Posted January 15, 2017 Both Preparation H and KY Jelly have warnings not to be taken orally.I wonder how many letters they got, "I tried your Kentucky Jelly on crackers and it had no taste at all."
Rob Hall Posted January 15, 2017 Posted January 15, 2017 One that sticks in my mind...not a warning label, but....my folks were long time loyal Sears customers, and in the 80s there was a Sears anniversary token they received (googled it--1986 Centennial Anniversary token)---looks like a gold coin--and around the edge it said 'contains authentic material'...what a generic statement, stuck with me the last 30 years.
bobthehobbyguy Posted January 15, 2017 Author Posted January 15, 2017 Along the same line is food packages is all nature ingredienrs. Well hemlock is natural but I wouldn't want it in my food.
Draggon Posted January 15, 2017 Posted January 15, 2017 It would seem that the YWCA has noticed a problem.
Pete J. Posted January 15, 2017 Posted January 15, 2017 I know that languages often don't translate well, but I have always wondered about this sign. What is the original intent!
blunc Posted January 16, 2017 Posted January 16, 2017 Along the same line is food packages is all nature ingredienrs. Well hemlock is natural but I wouldn't want it in my food. is that a preservative?
Ace-Garageguy Posted January 16, 2017 Posted January 16, 2017 ... hemlock is natural but I wouldn't want it in my food. is that a preservative? No, but it's a sure-fire cure for depression.
CometMan Posted January 16, 2017 Posted January 16, 2017 Saw a warning on a folding baby stroller to "remove child before folding"!
blunc Posted January 16, 2017 Posted January 16, 2017 let's just remove the warning labels and the problem will sort itself out eventually... as long as no one is allowed to sue for misuse of product.
Snake45 Posted January 16, 2017 Posted January 16, 2017 let's just remove the warning labels and the problem will sort itself out eventually... as long as no one is allowed to sue for misuse of product. Yup. It's called "natural selection" or "thinning the herd." About 1982 Ruger started stamping a long warning on the barrels of all their firearms, warning the user to read the instruction manual, and if you didn't have a manual, where/how to get one, and so forth. I'll never forget the American Rifleman's review of Ruger's then-new Mark II .22 pistol: "And when you get tired of shooting it, you can read it."
