935k3 Posted January 17, 2017 Posted January 17, 2017 (edited) Been working on this one a little while now. Body is TS-12 Orange. Wheel centers are Alclad Pale Gold. I cutoff the molded plastic hose and detailed the fire extinguisher with my own hose and cone with a clamp. I made the pull ring and my own decal. The roll cage is painted with TS-30 Silver Leaf and Spaztix chrome over top. Edited March 23, 2017 by 935k3
935k3 Posted January 18, 2017 Author Posted January 18, 2017 A few part added to engine. Wiring and more parts needed yet. I need to do something about the floating alternator.
zak78 Posted January 18, 2017 Posted January 18, 2017 (edited) Dale-- Tamiya seems to be trying to put one over us with that alternator location, which should be much closer to the intake manifold and water pump IIRC. You can fake it with a flat piece of styrene and still make a better-looking flange than BMW themselves did with the early renditions of the m30. Nice job on that wiring loom by the way. Dann Tier Posted January 20, 2017 Posted January 20, 2017 Everything is looking PERFECT!!!!!!!! -love the look of the Spaz Stix over the silber leaf too!
935k3 Posted January 26, 2017 Author Posted January 26, 2017 (edited) Engine mostly done. I did move the alternator in closer. Some touch up needed. Edited January 26, 2017 by 935k3
cjanderson Posted January 26, 2017 Posted January 26, 2017 That looks fantastic! Always dug those jager paint schemes.
935k3 Posted January 30, 2017 Author Posted January 30, 2017 (edited) Engine bay is done and chassis work started. I had to scratch build the brake master and fluid containers. Also the rear end radiator was scratch built. Edited January 30, 2017 by 935k3
om617 Posted January 30, 2017 Posted January 30, 2017 Beautiful!I`m suprised by the "stock" appearnce of the intake manfoil and air filter housing.
935k3 Posted January 30, 2017 Author Posted January 30, 2017 Beautiful!I`m suprised by the "stock" appearnce of the intake manfoil and air filter housing.Thanks. Group A racing did not allow much modifications to the street version.
geetee66 Posted January 31, 2017 Posted January 31, 2017 Looks like it's coming together, with surgical precision!I love your fine detailing. That fire extinguisher looks very real, as do the excellent wheels/tyres.I'll be watching your progress.

Davewilly Posted February 1, 2017 Posted February 1, 2017 LOOKING GOOD! everything really "pops" against the white chassis
DoctorLarry Posted February 2, 2017 Posted February 2, 2017 What did you use for braided line and to simulate the anodized hose ends, if I might ask?
935k3 Posted February 3, 2017 Author Posted February 3, 2017 I had to tone down the chrome it was too bright for a race car. I airbrushed Testor's Semi-Gloss Lacquer. The kit has no tire decals. I used some spares I got from Tamiya America. I will have to make some Dunlop decals for the body.
oldcarfan Posted February 4, 2017 Posted February 4, 2017 (edited) This is awesome. I have the Monogram 635 and I need to dig it out. I just found inspiration the other day in Austin traffic. The guy in front of me had one that had been lowered with vintage BBS wires and it looked like he had thrown some German tuner body bits on it. It was in primer like he was getting ready to paint. It looked like a fairly young kid driving. I wanted to get pictures, but I also wanted to not get into any wrecks, so...
