CometMan Posted February 6, 2017 Posted February 6, 2017 well that sucks, I need 58 and 60 Ford ( along with many others ) Don't lose hope yet, Bill! The caps in #2 were deluxe caps in '57. (sometimes referred to as "turbines") Quite often extra cost options like these were carried over unchanged for more than one year. With a little investigation you may well find that they were used in '58, and maybe '59 as well! I can confirm they were not offered in '60, though.
Mark Posted February 6, 2017 Posted February 6, 2017 Those wheel covers are from a Monogram '58 Thunderbird kit. But, I have seen a review or two of that kit saying that they are closer to being accurate for '57 than '58.
pack rat Posted February 6, 2017 Posted February 6, 2017 (edited) Are these the '58 Ford wheel covers?: Casey; those are the caps from the AMT trophy series '57 T-Bird, easy to identify due to the missing F-O-R-D lettering. I've seen them on a few 1:1 '58 Fords, but I don't know if they were ever installed on '58's when new. A more commonly-used '58 hubcap was found in the original AMT annual. Below...pics of the '58 hubcap, the AMT '58 annual hubcap, and more accurate versions of your '58 cap (with the lettering) from the Monogram '58 T-Bird and the AMT Craftsman '57 Bird. Like Mark said, some have stated that the '57-style cap is inaccurate on the Monogram '58. Edited February 6, 2017 by pack rat
StevenGuthmiller Posted February 6, 2017 Posted February 6, 2017 The only place that you will find '60 Ford caps will be from an original annual or a set from Modelhaus as far as I know.If you need a set of original '58 Ford caps Bill, just let me know.I still have a couple of original annual sets.
