Inspired by a Renault Dauphine with Yamaha FJ1200 engine I modifeid an old Hubly Renault Dauphine. The Hubley Chassis was replaced by a new one made out of sheet.  The proportions of the roof are a bit strange so that I corrected it to the right shape. Also the belt line wasn't straight, more wavy. I corrected that as well and add a chrome .The rims are modified 15" Fuchs with 15" rings from Scale Production. The scruffy look of the paint  was done wit Hairspray and salt technique.

Cool little build ....... can you go into detail about the hair spray and salt ?

SO cool to see someone else take on this kit! (I don't suppose you have a leftover rear bumper?) The body has a ton of little issues - especially with alignment of fenders and doors - and you've done a great job fixing them. Don't blame you for replacing the chassis, either - it needs a lot of work just to get it to a decent curbside/promo standard. Did you find this kit in Germany or somewhere else?

That's simple. I paint the body with a various brown, black from Tamiya and AK Interactive True Metal Iron.  The I applied on several spots hairspray and salt. After that I spayed mid blue over all. After the paint hat tried I remove the salt with an old tooth brush, a side effect is that you also get some scratch marks were the hairspray was.   Finally I sealt it with a coat of semi gloss clear coat from Gunze -Sanyo.

I hope that helps. Check out AK-Interactive side for more tips and tricks about weathering

I got this kit on ebay USA.  Yes,  I have a spare rear bumper. Do you have a spare right fender chrome part that is not broken? PM sent

The Renault Dauphine was made here in Brasil during quite a while by Willys under Renault licence. They were rebadged as Renault Gordini after the first series proved to be fragile when compared to the VW Bug. The water cooled Renault rear engine was prone to everheating, warping the head, and mixing oil and coolant. The car got a bad fame, but I always thought it was more Willys's fault, for not adapting the car to the tropical climate, than the car itself.

The model looks great, specially when one knows what you started with.

It would had looked great with the moon roof on the unpainted body!!

People here doesn't hop up them with motorcycle engines, but with Ford Corcel engines. Withe the Aerostable rear suspension is kind of suicidal, but it ought to be fun!!

Cool little car! I have one of those kits waiting for inspiration, and yours looks great.

I had a real Dauphine Gordini for a while in mid 1970s. Bought it for $35 US with a burned exhaust valve, fixed it and drove it for many months. Great fun, but even the Gordini (36 HP instead of 27) was pretty painfully slow.

You got this wrestled into shape, very nicely.

The wheels give it that little bit extra.

I agree, it's great to see a dodgy kit given new hope!
