rel14 Posted February 9, 2017 Posted February 9, 2017 Look up a 1958 Ford Nucleon , first nuclear car. Got to figure out away to build one.. any ideas
unclescott58 Posted February 9, 2017 Posted February 9, 2017 Proposed nuclear powered car. And only built as a scale model. One of those 1950's pie in the sky ideas. They had no idea of how to make it work. Nor did they really care. That was (is) for future scientists to figure out. And in close to 60 years, no one still has any idea of how to make it work. Scott
iamsuperdan Posted February 9, 2017 Posted February 9, 2017 Would be nice to see modern auto designers and engineers get wacky again.
Ace-Garageguy Posted February 9, 2017 Posted February 9, 2017 Take just about any early '60s car...a gluebomb Merc would be good...section it by 4" or so, move the front wheels WAY back, move the windshield forward, take a section out of the roof to make it only a two-seater, slap on some fins, remove the decklid and carve a "nuclear engine cover" out of a modified Cord hood, and stick a big ol' 1/8 scale hubcap on the top of it.

LDO Posted February 13, 2017 Posted February 13, 2017 It would be cool to build one big enough to drive. Instead of interchangeable nuclear power packs, have interchangeable battery packs.1950s Atomic dreaming with an electric car recharged by solar panels.
Fat Brian Posted February 13, 2017 Posted February 13, 2017 The Fallout video game franchise takes place in an alternate future in which scientists of the 40's were able to harness nuclear power and make all of the wild atomic ideas of the 50's a reality. They have some very interesting ideas about what a nuclear car would look like.
