Spent a few days cleaning up flash ( and there was lots of it )  Got the body in primer last nite. Then taped it up to get the yellow for the rear doors painted this morning. . Interior is just testors flat red ( lighting makes it look shinier than it is )

Im also doing the bare metal foil trick on the fender beading pre-paint. Once its all painted, Ill take some lacquer thinner and clean it off prior to clear coats

This was one of my favorite shows as a youngster . And Ive had this blueprinter version of the Koach and Dragula  for years ,,,waiting patiently. And there day has finally  come.

Thanks fellas, Its a pretty simple kit ( extremly simple actually )

Got the body painted yesterday. Its duplicolor basic black with Upol urethane clear. ( I dont care for the duplicolor rattle can clear ) Ended up re-taping it and resprayed the rear doors in a light gold , as I didnt care for the yellow that the instructions  calls for. Top of the body and the  folded rear cowl is sprayed in duplicolor flat black lacquer . And the Interior is just Testors flat red with embossing powder for carpeting. As of this morning ,,,,the Body, chassis and interior are now glued as one unit

Don't think I've ever seen better, sharper pictures of this model. Over the years I've considered buying one just for parts, but have never been able to find out if they're good enough to make it worth it. I'll be watching for the details as you go. Drive on!

Snake, Other than tires and wheels.... I dont think it would be a very good parts kit. The engine and trans are grossly undersized ,,The engine / trans itself is only 5 pieces. There's no suspension of any kind. Its a pretty neat kit to have and will be glad to have one built in my case. Even though its a simple kit, getting stuff to fit is a  challenge, trust me . Especially getting the rear fenders and very rear seat arrangement will be a trial on your patience  .

If I ever build another one ( not likely ) I'll drop the instructions in the trash and build it in my own order / sequence .

My best advise to anyone, fit the rear fenders and rear seat brackets to the body before you paint anything.

Im waiting on my order for the chrome pens to do  the windshield frame , a few touch ups here and there then some  small parts attachments before I call it done.

I use the instructions as a placemat and a loose guideline lol

I just bought the "Graveyard Duo" kit that was just released by Round2. I've always loved these cars. However the engine in both needs to be a Ford engine w/ Cobra valve covers to be true to form.

Jesse, The Koach does have the Cobra valve covers ( dont remember if the Dragula did or not , and if it does you cant see them anyway once the body is on )  But  the engines are so far under scale in both its unreal.   And if one decided to build a drive train in a more correct scale  I don't think the body would fit down over them . Thats one of the reasons  I don't think either car would make very good parts kits.

Ive been on a simple kit build run lately.  The Koach isnt done yet as I'm going to do the wind shield  frame with the  chrome pen when my order arrives . But I like this picture . My daughter did a snap kit build of the Polar Lights 66 Batmobile and its in the other side if this case . Once completed, I'll take a better group photo of them all

I present ( and in my best Fred Gwynne voice ) I present the cars of my yuth.

First off, VERY nice job on this fiddly kit!!!, Second, the valve covers that come with the Drag-U-La are Mickey Thompson brand, and third, after looking at all the pics I have of the Drag-U-La (without the body on), it shows having the Mickey Thompson valve covers. HOWEVER, t.v. cars have a habit of being different every season, so the tiniest little things do change. When I build cars like these, I build it with the bits I like best from all the cars. And on a side note, I posted a build of my dragula that I built, with a fully detailed cobra motor out of a Revell Mustang kit........it will fit (very barely).;)

Thanks for the heads up Bill... I should have taken a closer look. Somehow I thought they were the same as the paddy wagon. I have a bunch of Tom Daniel and movie car kits I want to build too... there's just something cool about them, and I wasn't even around when they came out!

I like it! This isn't great model as far as detail, but it is a fun model to have and build. I've got this set and a lot of the Tom Daniel kits put away and pull one out when I want to remember the little boy I used to be.
