Gotta do it now Bill.... love the sketch

I agree. Chris gave the idea everything it was lacking and more. I'd done the initial mockup and got stuck on where to go with it, tried all sorts of windshields, swoopy curved ones, veed ones like Hallock and DuVall, everything I could think of, and nothing rocked my socks. Chris' ideas made it pop.

This is one of those rare things I see that make me think a full-scale version ought to be built, and I'm working towards that goal as I write this. But the model WILL happen, if nothing other than to help sell the idea to somebody with deep enough pockets to finance it.

Stay tuned.  :D

I need to do something creative to keep from going the rest of the way crazy.

I think getting this mockup farther along might do it...no need to get all involved with scale-engineering like I usually do, just some fun.

Sadly, the photos of the rendering are unalived, and we're not allowed to edit older posts anymore.

Hmmmmmmmmm...

Pretty sure I have it on a drive around here somewhere.

OK...here's the illustration, with some masterful design input, that Chris Drysdale did for me eons ago:

Here you go!
Uuugh, I can't believe more than 7 years have passed since I drew that sketch.

Yup. Kinda bites I haven't moved on it before now, and I need to have a talk with you.

Expect a PM in the next few days.

Bill, have you given any more thought on FWD vs RWD?

My 2 cents? This thing has just got to be FWD. A hot rodded Cord with FWD will have serious cool factor, anti cookie-cutter, and would be a fun project to engineer and build. And of course, being a Cord, it just seems right. I also thought your early comment about a quick change poking out the front was right on the money. That would look wicked.

Of course, it's easy for me to spend your time. 😉

I agree entirely.   :D

It has been my intention to build this thing full-scale ever since I saw Chris Drysdale's beautiful illustration, and his design work that put my rough concept cobble-up way over the top.

Back then I had no idea I'd still be working almost full time this long, and both the model and planning for the big one fell by the wayside as I honored other commitments.

But those are finally coming to a close, and I'm hoping to revive the full-scale project late this year in my shop in AZ.

In the interim I've acquired multiple Cord kits from Pyro and Monogram to hack up while striving to match Chris's proportions exactly, and a couple of the AMT 1/12 kits to do a large-scale model to pull measurements from.

If I live long enough, and stay healthy enough, a real one will get built.  :)
