As has been oft said here, I didn't know Harry personally, but almost from my first post here I discovered his incredible knowledge, skill, and kindness.  I was even the recipient of a "magic floating generator" comment. Since coming back to this hobby, Harry's feedback, on my own and others' builds, has been invaluable in making my projects better. His own projects were absolutely stunning to look at, to the point that I bought his books. He was certainly a mentor to many people, and his impact on the community, the magazine and the hobby in general will resonate as much as the loss.

I offer my sincerest condolences to his family, friends, the magazine, this community and the countless others his life touched.

Requiescat in pace, Harry

Terrible News, I'm new here so didn't really know him, but there seems to be lots of praise for skills & work on the forum.

Perhaps a gallery of some of his builds would be a good idea, or a "final run" in your magazine. ( a similar thing was done recently in another model car magazine....)

Could be a good idea to email his family members a link to this thread, i'm sure they'd be happy to know he influenced so many people, all over the world.

I am proposing we name the large scale section "Harry's Big Boyz"...I always found his gorgeous models in that section and will always think of him while I surf there

I agree, or find if not that section dedicate some section in his name.....................................................

I've known Harry online since the early days on SA forums and we've had many excellent conversations. I'm sorry we never got to meet face to face. He was an excellent fellow.

I saw this yesterday on Facebook. Well, now Tuesday, as it's very early Thursday morning now.

It's still sinking in, not sure if it will completely or not for a while.

Harry was truly a driving force in this hobby, and in hobby publishing.

Most of all, a intelligent, friendly, voice of reason on this forum. And yes, his wry sense of humor.

His presence will be missed by all of us.

One of the great powers of the Internet is that you get to "know" people from your community who you might otherwise never meet. The work Harry put in behind the scenes to help keep our community together can never be overvalued it is priceless.  The fact that he was an outstanding modeller was just icing on the cake.

From all of us from all around the world, rest in peace Harry.

I've done that already but their lives are upside-down right now.

I very much agree with the notion of "Harry's Big Boyz." The man had more talent in his left pinkie than I will ever muster on my very best day as a model builder. His comments were always well researched and thoughtful. His models were pure eye candy. May his wish list of "never offered kits" be fulfilled on his next stop. My condolences to his family and friends. I only wish, like many of you, that I could have met him in person.

Rest in peace Harry. I have your book and had hoped you would be able to sign it when you recovered. I know you're in a better place now.

Very sad news. His voice will be missed on this forum and in the hobby at large. An extremely talented modeler whose work was always an inspiration to look at. I'd love to see a pinned gallery of his work as a memorial!

I'll have to make sure I put outside rear view mirrors on my next model in his honor!

One of my greatest pleasures in life has been writing for Model Cars Magazine. It was an honor to work with you, Harry. Thank You and Godspeed

Friends, I have found out that our friend Harry was at peace when he departed this life.

Surrounded by his small family, he was sedated and unresponsive but not in any distress. It did not appear to his children that he was suffering.

I think that's all any of us can ask at the last hour. May his soul rest in peace.

Hey Cato, I would be remiss if I didn't thank you for speaking on Harry's behalf when he didn't have the strength or fortitude to do it himself. We really did want to stay informed about his well being and even when the news was not good, hearing it from you was better than nothing. Thanks for caring about our community enough to take on that troubling task.

Flat out, Thank You.
