Darrell Gwinn Posted June 3, 2008 Posted June 3, 2008 Hey, just curious to see what car songs you guys like, plus it'll help me out since I'm in charge of the music for a car show in my town next month.
samdiego Posted June 3, 2008 Posted June 3, 2008 (edited) Mustang Sally, My favorite version is from the Commitments Soundtrack; Highway Star, Deep Purple; Trans Am, Sammy Hagar, OK to segue this into Bad Motor Scooter technically a bike song but the car people dig it. You may as well throw in the anthem I Can't Drive 55 (or 65, depends on the decade); Baby's got a Brand New Cadillac and Drive Like Lightning, Crash Like Thunder, The Brian Setzer Orchestra; Pink Cadillac, Bruce Springsteen You may be lynched if you don't have a bunch of Beach Boys and Jan and Dean, just pick by title. James W Posted June 3, 2008 Posted June 3, 2008 (edited) Stay Cats; Hot Rod Gang, Built for Speed, Rev It Up and Go, Look at That Cadillac, 18 Miles from Memphis. Brian Setzer; Switchblade 327. George Thorogood; Ride on Josephine. David Lindley; Mercury Blues... this version is particularly tasty, it can be found on 'Hot Rods & Custom Classics' from Rhino Records. Of course if you find this collection, your troubles are over. Edited June 3, 2008 by James W

Not wedding DJs. Hire me and I will make your show rock. My usual fee + gas + lodging.

Darrell Gwinn Posted June 3, 2008 Author Posted June 3, 2008 Would anyone happen to know of a place where I can download tracks from The Super Stocks? Limewire doesnt have anything... nor does Rhapsody.
ramonesblues Posted June 3, 2008 Posted June 3, 2008 Dead Skunk by Louden Wainright the 3rd, Race with the devil, 409, and that whole list from Lordairguitar.
LUKE'57 Posted June 3, 2008 Posted June 3, 2008 Beach Boys "409" with one of the guys father's 352 FORD engine recorded in their driveway doubling for the Chevy. Beach Boys "Fun, Fun, Fun" with the guitar opening riff stolen from Chuck Berry And Robert Mitchum's "The Ballad of Thunder Road" for obvious reasons including, but not limited to, one of the best rockabilly guitar backups in a movie.
novadose71 Posted June 3, 2008 Posted June 3, 2008 I'll add............. Steve Miller- Mercury Blues ZZ TOP-Chevrolet And you gotta play Hot Rod Lincoln at least a couple times
Guest zebm1 Posted June 3, 2008 Posted June 3, 2008 Here's a really Kool website....Turn your Volume up and Rock n' Roll...... http://objflicks.com/CarsWeDrove.htm
Harry P. Posted June 3, 2008 Posted June 3, 2008 ooh ooh!!! Just thought of a few more... Eagles, "Old '55" (Tom Waits wrote it)... Bruce Springsteen, "Cadillac Ranch" and "Racing in the Street" (I got a '69 Chevy with a 396, fuelie heads and a Hurst on the floor...) Prince, "Little Red Corvette"...
curt raitz Posted June 3, 2008 Posted June 3, 2008 Well how'bout... "The Long and Winding Road"...Beatles "Radar Love"...Golden Earing "Thunder Road"...Bruce Springsteen "Little Duece Coupe" & "Surf City"...Beach Boys "Highway to Hell"...AC/DC "One Headlight"...The Wallflowers "NSU"...Cream "Riders on the Storm"...The Doors "Magic Bus"...The Who and "Dead Man's Curve"...Jan & Dean to name a few...
Harry P. Posted June 3, 2008 Posted June 3, 2008 Beatles, "Drive My Car"... Led Zeppelin, "Trampled Underfoot"... (ok, the words refer to a car but I think we know what they're really TALKING ABOUT... )... Rolling Stones, "Brand New Car" (ditto on the car-lyrics-but-really-talking-about-something-else footnote... )... and this might be stretching the "car songs" idea a bit, but the Beatle's "Lovely Rita (Meter Maid)"...
Billy Kingsley Posted June 3, 2008 Posted June 3, 2008 My two favorites are without question Dead Man's Curve by Jan & Dean and Ballad of Thunder Road by Robert Michum. I like most of the 60s Surf music, especially the car stuff.
