89AKurt Posted May 16, 2017 Posted May 16, 2017 The AMT kit of the Ferrari 250 SWB stinks! So I thought putting it in a diorama would be appropriate. The tree stump is from a bush found outside, same with the grass. The tarp is diluted white glue soaked Kleenex. This was the first diorama I built as an adult.
Dominik Posted May 16, 2017 Posted May 16, 2017 like it! the best way to recycle a kit that stinks.Well done!
D. Battista Posted May 16, 2017 Posted May 16, 2017 Too bad to see an old horse in that shape..... You did a great job on this...
gasser59 Posted May 16, 2017 Posted May 16, 2017 Looks good Kurt. You've built a bunch of dio's since then.
curt raitz Posted May 16, 2017 Posted May 16, 2017 Nice diorama Kurt Wayne Carinni would "wet himself" if he stumbled on this in full scale!
Chillyb1 Posted May 16, 2017 Posted May 16, 2017 That is a really cool diorama and definitely a great way to display that kit. There are great Ferrari 250 kits available now so that AMT kit can be retired (or put out to pasture).
Russell C Posted May 18, 2017 Posted May 18, 2017 And this one is still my favorite of Kurt's dioramas. Even better when seen in person, it just reeks of 'dry, neglected dusty vehicle.'
89AKurt Posted February 25, 2018 Author Posted February 25, 2018 Thank you everyone. Yes, inaccurate kits are great for this theme. I have an AMT Mercedes Gullwing that I want to use for a diorama.
Anglia105E Posted February 25, 2018 Posted February 25, 2018 Perfect way to display a bad kit as others have said, and I like the way you have captured the scene in a very small area of diorama. Kurt the diorama Master ! David

That would be a special occasion indeed. However the odds of finding a 250 in the corner of a yard are pretty high. So you did an excellent job of potraying the impossible.
David G. Posted May 12, 2018 Posted May 12, 2018 Nicely Done! All the subtle touches add up to one great diorama. David G.
Bucky Posted May 21, 2018 Posted May 21, 2018 Such a cool dio! I like the way you have the tarp "locked" down!!
