geetee66 Posted June 1, 2017 Posted June 1, 2017 (edited) I watched some Lowrider videos on YouTube and I was smitten, with the quality of the work, on these cars. I try and do something new, on each build and learn as I go. So, this is the first time I've done a paint job like this. I'm going to buy an airbrush soon, but this is all rattle can paint. The tape is Tamiya 3mm flexible tape. It's ok for gentle curves, but not for tighter radius ones. It's probably easier in the long run, to make your own line tape, with twin blades on a sheet of glass. I'll do that next time. Edited August 8, 2017 by geetee66 photo update
geetee66 Posted June 2, 2017 Author Posted June 2, 2017 Thanks, Slotto! I've just given the skull decals a coat of candy green. One more colour to go. The same green as the engine and chassis.
geetee66 Posted June 3, 2017 Author Posted June 3, 2017 Got the final shade of green on, today. and finally got the tape off. Not too much bleed. Just a bit of touch up. Then knock it flat with a wet-sand, then clear etc.
MeatMan Posted June 4, 2017 Posted June 4, 2017 Fantastic paintwork! The chassis is sweet, and that engine..the manifold looks like polished aluminum! Kudos!
DumpyDan Posted June 4, 2017 Posted June 4, 2017 Nice, great looking paint work man I love the Lowrides.
David G. Posted June 4, 2017 Posted June 4, 2017 Wow! That's a lot of masking. Looks great so far.David G.

geetee66 Posted July 30, 2017 Author Posted July 30, 2017 I've been a bit slow, with this. 15 coats of clear, took a while to lay down and Gas out. Then I wet sanded down to 8000 and gave it a polish. Rattle can paint is fairly thick, so the trim lost definition, so I used vinyl tape as a guide.
geetee66 Posted July 30, 2017 Author Posted July 30, 2017 I also got the trunk contents fitted and the interior assembled
donb Posted August 1, 2017 Posted August 1, 2017 That is some seriously awesome paintwork and detailing. Please keep it going! Looking forward to the end product.
geetee66 Posted August 8, 2017 Author Posted August 8, 2017 WOW! Nice! Great paint work! I'm green with envy! Thanks guys. nearly got burned out on this, but I've managed to get some more done. I used a magnetic jig, to epoxy the wheels on straight. Those with a keen eye, might notice I've 'butterflied' the front camber, a tad.

bobthehobbyguy Posted August 8, 2017 Posted August 8, 2017 Somehow missed this. Absolutely stunning Paint. Great job on the interior.

It's a lot harder with rattle cans...!
