Well I think I'm beaten... with less than 3hrs to go I've got too much to do. & im pretty knachered, it's been a long day!

i did complete the interior & chassis, but there's just too much extra stuff to do.

I think I could do it if I my kids were a bit older, I spent a lot of time playing with them today, plus cooking lunch & dinner. Another year maybe

I think i must throw in the towel like  the Ashman. I still got way to much to do. And am starting to get high from all those paint fumes:blink:

It has been a blast, and i still think we should post pics on this thread. I would love to see them done.

This is what i got done.

Nice work guys. Get them finished. Unfortunately, I'm not going to get done either. I was in good shape with 6hrs to go, so I decided to have a nap. I got back up with 3hrs left and since I've had nothing but issues with final assembly. I'm at the point where I want to toss it across the room, so I'm setting it aside and I'll come back in a day or two to finish it off. All the fiddly bits are being overly fiddly so this is where I'm at now.

Thanks to Ash and Rene for joining in, and thanks to everyone that looked in.

Now to finish watching the last 12 mins.

Guys,

Good effort in the builds, this is very difficult to do in 24 hours, even with a curbside kit.

I have seen other sites allow painting to be done first, and then start the assembly at the start of the race.  I have seen my own builds languish on the bench for months (and sometimes years) so getting a model done in 24 hours is pretty ambitious.

Would still like to see the completed models, someday...

Cheers to David & Rene, this was awesome to build alongside you two. Really enjoyed it, definitely keen to give it a go another year. Maybe when I have more free time. I'll get my F1 wrapped up this week, might add things like seatbelts etc.

On another note, what a great race LeMans was! So stoked that 2 Kiwis won! I did manage to watch the last 30mins thanks to my 2yr who woke me up, here's a pic of where everything is at as of this morning

Hi David and Ash.

I most say, i really had a good time building with you guys. I would love to do that again.

As David said, to build a model in 24hours is quite a task. And to go with a engine-kit was a little ambitious. I still would like to see the cars completed.

Again thanks for a good time.

This is brilliant! I wish I had seen this as I also have a McLaren race car to build! I've been a couple of times and the atmosphere is electric. On one of the occasions I was there we saw Paul Dumbreck go over and land in a clearing in the woods! 260,000 fans in utter silence until they knew Paul was OK !

Hey guys,

Well i put my F1 on hold for a wee while, tinkered here & there when I had a chance.

Heres some pics of the completed chassis. I added seatbelts & did a little more detailing.

Well here are two that I finished last week. A McLaren MP4 12C GT3 2013 and a Porsche 961 of 1989.

The McLaren is a Fujimi kit with aftermarket ART Team decals from the Colorado Company and the Porsche is a simple but effective Snap Kit using the kit decals.

Hi guys.

I saw Ash had posted new pics of his build and i thought i might as well do so work to mine. I really think it is hard to complete the car when we are not building against time:blink:...

But anyway this is what i managed to do last night.

Still have a lot more to do. But right now most of my focus are on my Ferrari build.

Looking good! Love the Toyota GT1, was one of my fav builds Ive done!

Thought i was almost on the finishing line, then like Toyota in 2016 victory was crulely taken from me.

Fitted the body & the closed door to the chassis, then thought it'd be a case of slapping the wheels on her & calling it done, but no, (well yes i could, but it simply wouldnt look right)

Ive build this kit as per the instructions, everything lines up perfectly, but the ride height is unbelievable! these are the tires supplied in the kit, this is suppose to be a racecar kit! & the ride height is 220mm (8.6 inches)!!!!!! I dont even think my work van has that kind of road clearance!!! So Ive got some work to do, Ive found a better set of tires from a Tamiya Merc SLR which fit the oversized wheels, just not quite as wide but have tread instead & theyre lower profile too.

Ash,

The McLaren looks fantastic....except for the one LITTLE thing...

Absolutely one of the best looking cars of all time and Fujimi did a decent job in replicating it.....except for that one LITTLE thing.

I have a fix....I'll post up some pics after breakfast with some pics and an explanation, its a pretty easy fix, but depends on how heavily you glued your chassis together.

Still looks great tho.

The weather is suppose to be humid and rainy here today, so I may get to the Merc...seeing you guys get some work done on yours means I should get back at mine, its been a month now.

David
