Toriano Posted July 11, 2017 Posted July 11, 2017 I started on this birdman replica car two days ago for a build off with a few friends of mine. I have until the end of July to finish this but, I will probably finish in a few days. I'm using the Pontiac firebird kit for this build as well
Toriano Posted July 11, 2017 Author Posted July 11, 2017 the wing wasn't hard at all to recreate, but the turbo set up he runs probably will
Toriano Posted July 11, 2017 Author Posted July 11, 2017 It's pretty nice to not have to build another tube chassis for this car, although I still have to edit parts of this chassis that pretty out of date
Toriano Posted July 11, 2017 Author Posted July 11, 2017 I got the front end and the doors cut out. Hope everything fits well.
Toriano Posted July 11, 2017 Author Posted July 11, 2017 I am going to scratch build an intake and make a place for a breather like the one that's on the real car.
Toriano Posted July 11, 2017 Author Posted July 11, 2017 I also ordered some promod 102 mm turbos from shapeways
Toriano Posted July 11, 2017 Author Posted July 11, 2017 I cannot wait to paint and detail this set up
Toriano Posted July 12, 2017 Author Posted July 12, 2017 I've got the exhaust done, which is always my favorite part ?. I painted the motor as well. I'm doing body work until the motor dries then I'm going to detail it.
Toriano Posted July 12, 2017 Author Posted July 12, 2017 I'm still figuring out how to detail the motor so it can be exact but I guess it's just gonna be a trial and error thing.
Toriano Posted July 20, 2017 Author Posted July 20, 2017 I got a breather on the intake that looks pretty good. I used an intake from an old diecast car I used to hav.
Toriano Posted July 20, 2017 Author Posted July 20, 2017 I'm almost done painting the body as of now. I saved the best part for last?
matthijsgrit Posted July 20, 2017 Posted July 20, 2017 Nice build. Really like the turbo setup. What do you use for the engine-tubes (if you know what I mean)?
Toriano Posted July 20, 2017 Author Posted July 20, 2017 Nice build. Really like the turbo setup. What do you use for the engine-tubes (if you know what I mean)?I use styrene tubes that I purchased from my local hobby shop. They sell them everywhere, so it shouldn't be hard to find it.
NYLIBUD Posted July 21, 2017 Posted July 21, 2017 OH man again, you are one busy boy.Youv'e got at least four different projects going at once....And I really like them all.Keep the pics coming.Im a door drag car nut.Pro mod/Pro stock,BIG tire cars.Seems like you are too.And man you sure like your turbos. Its weird,I've never built a drag car model with a turbo. It Looked to complicated.I don't know, maybe I'll try it.Anyway, keep up the good work.Again, this is what I've been working on.66 Pro mod Nova
Toriano Posted July 22, 2017 Author Posted July 22, 2017 I'm 99% done with the chassis, I just need put the net in and some other minor things
Toriano Posted July 27, 2017 Author Posted July 27, 2017 I've finally finished this car for the month of July, I'm really proud of this build.
Toriano Posted July 27, 2017 Author Posted July 27, 2017 I couldn't figure out where to buy a custom license plate for the front, so I just left it as is
astroracer Posted July 31, 2017 Posted July 31, 2017 I couldn't figure out where to buy a custom license plate for the front, so I just left it as isYou have a good pic of it. Open the photo in paint and crop it so just the plate is visible. Resize it to a scale license plate size and print it out. Glue it to a piece of sheet plastic.Mark
