ranma Posted July 12, 2017 Posted July 12, 2017 (edited) I got the kit from a friend, And I got the idea of making it into a Mayfair Ambulance. I'm planning on using tape between the outer doors and door panel's to hinge the doors from the body. I glued the hinges only to the body, and waited for the glue to dry. I then cut the hinges along the door seam's. I have painters tape holding the doors on to the body for the pictures. Edited July 20, 2017 by ranma
excrewchief Posted July 13, 2017 Posted July 13, 2017 Looks like a lot of work. Keep up the good work its nice to see some creativity.
ranma Posted July 13, 2017 Author Posted July 13, 2017 What is the base kit for this build? a Cross between these two:
misterNNL Posted July 13, 2017 Posted July 13, 2017 Thanks, the very next album I looked at had a real answer I wanted which was what plastic kit you were using.I has not seen this anywhere but now I know what to look.(like I need another kit to stuff into a storage closet that is overflowing with great stuff I'll never live long enough to build!)
ranma Posted July 13, 2017 Author Posted July 13, 2017 Update pictures: Body in paint, Roof not glued on. The back doors are shown as what they will look like closed.
mikemodeler Posted July 14, 2017 Posted July 14, 2017 Looking good! I had a similar plan in my head for this kit once I get one. Mine might be done in a city fire department color scheme.
kelson Posted July 14, 2017 Posted July 14, 2017 Like it so far,any plans to add any period ambulance pieces inside?
ranma Posted July 16, 2017 Author Posted July 16, 2017 Getting closer to getting the ambulance done. Made the bench and cabinet out of evergreen sheet plastic. The "gurney" Stretcher is from a JoHan Ambulance kit.
DumpyDan Posted July 16, 2017 Posted July 16, 2017 This looks great, like the inside detailing. Nice work
ranma Posted July 20, 2017 Author Posted July 20, 2017 Well It's almost done, waiting of a few items to finish it.
ranma Posted July 20, 2017 Author Posted July 20, 2017 Before anyone say's anything "yes" the rear doors still open and close, I just didn't open them for these updated pictures 7/20/17
impcon Posted July 20, 2017 Posted July 20, 2017 This is a unique concept but not at all unrealistic. I like the colors and the painted grille and hub caps.. and the panel behind the grille is even white like it should be.Lots of work opening those rear doors I'd bet - and the fit is good when they are closed. Nice work Rick.. Thank you for sharing.
