As reported from Sascha Mueller on Facebook, the next Tamiya 1/24 car is the Mercedes-AMG GT3.  Pretty cool!  We have a street version from Revell, and now a track version from Tamiya.

This was something that I was expecting Fujimi to do, but Tamiya is , so even better, this will go nice with if it ever gets released BMW M6 GT3

Maybe they're trying to make a statement.

Yeah...waiting to see the M6 too, dunno if I'm buying but it look promising...

They already have the license for the 1/10 RC version, so why not use it for a 1/24?

What's up with Aoshima lately?  Seems like they slowed the pace of new car announcements.  Anyone have any hints of what's next?  Still waiting for a McLaren F1 road or short tail race car.

Tamiya returning to doing race car kits is a good thing, I am very happy

We are in the slow part of year right now,  Aoshima still has one more kit to release that was announced just before the May hobby show,  we have the All Japan Toy Hobby show coming in September , we will probably get an idea what Aoshima is going to do just before the show, plus we have two new kits to be announced from the new model company that was started up, we are getting one new super car and one Japan style car, so its going to be a very exciting show

The kit will be good for the aftermarket as well. I'm still surprised that no company has done the mclaren p1 street car. Still will be a curbside kit .

That logic doesn't necessarily hold, as they've had R.C. licensing for a lot of stuff that never made the transition to 1/24.

Aoshima does major announcements twice a year just like everyone else. May at Shizouka and October at Tokyo. One thing to consider is Aoshima has been dumping a fair amount of tooling cash into slight modified revisions to their early Skyline kits to make trim versions and years that haven't existed previously along with a new set of stock wheel covers and 14" tires all in celebration of the 60th Anniversary of the Skyline. By the time September rolls around there will have been 8 of these tweaked kits.

As evidenced by this very thread we'll start seeing the Tokyo Hobby Show information trickle out over the next month.

Oh they will, but with those Anima decals and up-charge 30% because of it.

Maybe, Good Smile Racing does run the AMG GT, and that is the team that you are talking about.

Ya know Fujimi did make "blank" BMW Z4s, 6 of them if you count the 2011 & 2012 DX kits that had P/E included.  So there's no need to pay for a GSR kit unless you actually want to make a GSR liveried Z4.
