We went to Anime-Fest this past weekend in Dallas. Anime is not something I really care about, but the wife and kids do, so we went. I did find something for me, though. One of the vendors imports Gundam kits and this time he brought some car kits. My wife wasn't there at the time so I bought 6 of them. I've been searching the forums, but haven't seen one built up. Has anyone built one? They are curbside, Aoshima, but the detail seems really good and they have some extra parts. I'm guessing from the extras that they may have been released in racing or rally editions as well. Incidentally, if I can put in a plug, Wild Bill's Hobby is still open in Dallas, one of the last of the old time hobby shops. If you are in town, it's worth stopping by.

Initial D was a very popular and well known anime about street drift racers. It was a great series and there's a live action movie also.

The Toyota Corolla AE86 bottom right is the protagonists car (Takumi Fujiwara)

In theory, the extra parts should represent the tuned parts of the modified cars in the anime but other than a few youtube build videos I've never looked in one of the boxes so can't be entirely sure.

If you search Aoshima initial D on youtube you'll find some build videos, some also in Japanese which aren't glaringly apparent because of the hiragana/katakana titles.

I've fancied one of the Suzuki Cappuccino kits for some time as it's a car I really like but the Initial D model to my knowledge is the only one available.

Look forward to seeing some of them built.

A quick image search on Google shows Aoshima does 7 or 8 versions of the Cappuccino besides the Initial-D kit. One even includes a small photo etch sheet.

There are another 2 versions of the corolla, at least one of them has one of those engine top plates to represent the later versions from the series. Its a decent series if you like cars but dont mind subtitles (2 of the 5 series are dubbed in english). The animation of the races is first rate too, if you can find em I think you'll enjoy them

What you have there is 3 Aoshima kits, and 3 Fujimi kits. The 2 RX-7s - which are the most recent versions that have several new parts added to replicate a "Battle Race" that go with a R32 from said race, along with the Cappuccino.  The Cappuccino can be built mostly factory stock as the "Initial D" parts are an aero front bumper that fits over the existing molded on front bumper along with some racing seats and roll hoops.  The RX-7s have a top-half engine insert.

The SilEighty, Impreza and AE86 Trueno are all Fujimi curbsides, and unfortunately the Fujimi Trueno is a hot mess compared to the Aoshima kit.
