blackbeard Posted August 31, 2017 Posted August 31, 2017 What truck to use for Optimus prime peterbilt truck
Jim B Posted September 1, 2017 Posted September 1, 2017 (edited) In the 2007 Transformers film, Optimus Prime was a Peterbilt 379. However, in the 2014 Transformers: Age of Extinction, he was a 1973 Marmon cab-over then either a Western Star 5700 Custom or Western Star 4900 Phantom Custom depending on the source. vincen47 Posted September 1, 2017 Posted September 1, 2017 (edited) It was probably a fairly late model extended hood (127" BBC) 379. It had several custom parts common to 379 owner operators and show trucks. On Shapeways you'll find several 1/24 scale parts like the hood, grille, and bumper specific to the movie truck. With those 3D printed parts along with the Italeri 378 kit and some other aftermarket parts you'll be able to put together a nice replica. To find the parts on shapeways search for 1/24 Peterbilt. Don't use Optimus Prime, the search engine is terrible and too many things come up. Edited September 1, 2017 by vincen47 Added more info
blackbeard Posted September 1, 2017 Author Posted September 1, 2017 Do you have a link to those parts on shapeways
vincen47 Posted September 1, 2017 Posted September 1, 2017 (edited) Sure thing, they also have other Pete 379 items of interest. https://www.shapeways.com/search?q=1%2F24+Peterbilt&type= Edited September 1, 2017 by vincen47 Fixing link
Vince66 Posted September 2, 2017 Posted September 2, 2017 (edited) And actually Optimus started as a 359 with extra goodies added talks about it in the behind the scenes. And I do believe i'll have to check the DVD again where he goes from a marmon to a modern truck actually is a Pete 387 & or 587 have driven both.As that's the movie where Megatron becomes a Freightliner Argosy. As a Class A CDL holder I've driven many brands but my user name says it all. Edited September 2, 2017 by NothingAsFineAsaW9
