Was there ever a Mercedes W108 kit or diecast?

I owned a 1969 Mercedes 280S sedan with the Bosch headlights when I lived in Venezuela many years ago. I loved that car, but it got stolen from a repair shop. >:-(

I'd like to build one in 1:24/1:25 or get a die cast and repaint it if it isn't the right color combo; but did anyone ever produce one?

You can find that body style 280 Merc in sedan, convertible and coupe in 1/18 diecast...and I think that's about as close as you're going to get. 

This one has the stacked-quad headlamps used in the US market.

Neither here nor there, not that it'll happen in our lifetimes; but I'd get after a kit of one.

Closest we've got (not the same, just the closest) in plastic kits is probably this 1:35:
