Do any of you guys have a brand CA Glue preference?  I'm not certain if all CA Glue brands are of the same quality.  Would love to hear your thoughts.  Thanks in advance.

I've been extremely happy using Plasti Zap CA......specifically the bright orange label bottle. Been using it since 1989 or so.

I recently started using Bob Smith Ind.  I find the bond much stronger than the Jet brand I was using.

Loctite.  It's always worked well for me, and it stays good longer once opened due to the cap design.

X3, and specifically the "Ultra Gel". I find it to be significantly tougher for the applications where I use it, and as it's a gel, it makes very good fillets around joints of a roll-cage. It also works well for edge-filling opening panels that almost nothing else will work on.

Hi,

Well I buy whatever is at the dollar store being;

Loctite

Crazy Blue

Gorilla Glue

And they all work well enough.  But to me, the finest that I use sparingly in specific scenarios is Zap a Gap thin CA.

When do I use it;

Securing very small parts

Filling very small holes

Super bond needs

However I'm inexperienced so take what I post with a grain of salt.

Gorilla glue in bottle with light blue cap. Only one I use for 2 years now. Good stuff....buy it most drug stores etc.....my hobby shop is almost 3 hours away.

Loctite for the gel-type--much better than anything else.

For regular superglue, I'm not picky. I buy the cheap 4-packs at Walmart when they have them.

I've been using the little three pack Gorilla Glue. This is a thick CA glue, but the tube seals well, unlike the Zap CA glues. I gave up on those after multiple failures to seal, and high price.

I bought a 2 oz. bottle of ZAP-A-Gap a few years ago. It's the medium CA+ and it has worked fine and I may not live long enough to use it all. I'm only about half way thru the container is all.

Whatever is on sale for this guy. I learned a while back to buy the smallest bottles possible or it will dry up long before I use it all.

Yep, best part is you can always get it going again after you use it and put it away for awhile

I mostly use BSI (Bob Smith Ind.) glues. No specific reasons. I sometimes use other brands too. IMO most CA glues work pretty much the same. But to me the more important question is "what CA accelerator you use?" :D

I exclusively use BSI accelerator for several reasons:  It has a very mild (almost pleasant) odor, it does not attack styrene (like many other accelerators do), and it has a gentler accelerating action than most other brands (so the CA glue does not bubble up).  I never spray it on but apply it with a micro-brush, just to the area being glued.

I've been using Mercury Adhesives medium glue, in the orange bottle. Been happy, but i t does seem to stop working effectively pretty quickly. Will try that Loctite product for sure. I've been using Loctite products for years on my cars, never thought to try it on models!

I use Bob Smith CA glues as well. I appreciate the variety of viscosities available and my LHS carries the lot. I will also pick up cheap 'single use' 4 packs of Krazy Glue for random jobs.

The only accelerator I use is BSI. With the exception of some particularly troublesome Tamiya acrylic once, I have never had a problem with the stuff attacking paint, plastic, clear, or chrome. I apply it with a small pipette.
