afx Posted October 10, 2017 Posted October 10, 2017 (edited) Looks like my grille would take very little work to fit the Johan body. Should I offer it to a resin caster - would there be interest? My grille: Johan Grille 1:1 Edited October 10, 2017 by afx
Xingu Posted October 11, 2017 Posted October 11, 2017 I think you should. That would be a fairly easy piece to cast. I think there would be a decent market for it. I'm sure i would get a couple.
Ron Hamilton Posted October 11, 2017 Posted October 11, 2017 J.C.It would be a good idea.we will also need the tail lamps and bezels and the front Valance. Ron

RonRon, this would simply be a grille upgrade for the Johan which already has '71 valance and tail lights in lieu of a trans-kit for the Revell Cuda.

I am going to get another one, as I have a MPC '73 annual that I am going to cut up and combine with a Revell body. It's a glue bomb that I have where I would like to do a base Barracuda coupe with white wall tires and full wheel covers, which I just got from Missing Link Resin. I have a not too bad Sox and Martin JoHan '71 that I am going to restore. It's all there, but I want to replace the carbs with a set of Fireball Dominators in lieu of the kit parts.
Crankenstien Posted December 1, 2017 Posted December 1, 2017 while the johan is a bit dated the bodies a better casting and other then the grill it's right how ever I do agree with what ya said the 70 is a better detailed kit found out by accident just how many revel part's can work with the old johan the extra front suspension in the 70 could be used as well as the dart spring's and rear end under the johan their both pretty cool kit's for what its worth a then and now
drodg Posted December 1, 2017 Posted December 1, 2017 I have wanted to build the orignal 1/24 71 Cuda but I have always been turned off with the grill on that kit. I feel like the headlights are too wide spread compared to the 1:1 car. It would be great to do a conversion with fender gills on the 70 kit though. Seats may need updating also? I don't believe the seat pattern on the 71 and the 70 are the same. So my answer would be yes. thanks

So my answer would be yes. thanks Depends on if the current Revell 1970 kit has the base vinyl interior or the upgraded leather interior seat pattern. Leather was the same on both 1970 and 1971 I don't have one close by to ck at the moment. Ive started on one but all I have done so far is body and paint ( Vitamin C orange to replicate a good friends car )

I took another look at my MPC annual after I bought a set of full wheel covers, as well as a set of steelies and dog dish caps from Missing Link Resin for the project. It is actually a '74 Barracuda with a flat hood, which is much too nice to cut up. However, it needs a heap of detailing to bring it up to date. However, I hope that we get a trans-kit in resin or a newly tooled '71 Cuda based on the 1/25 scale Revell '70 tool. I do not like the look of the Revell 1/24 Cuda, as it has some suspect proportions here and there.
afx Posted December 2, 2017 Author Posted December 2, 2017 After further contemplating the Johan trans-kit, the body has the grille cast in place. It would require the builder to grind out the existing grille and fit the resin replacement. I don't think a sufficient number of builders will be willing to take this on to make a trans-kit viable.
Crankenstien Posted December 2, 2017 Posted December 2, 2017 well if it where the center of the grill as a replacement some might, noticed a good deal of the part's will transfer kit to kit with out problems same with the reissued mpc 68/69 barracuda and the dart revel has
Crankenstien Posted December 2, 2017 Posted December 2, 2017 curious as to the resin kit ron versea the snap kits body guess both would take some work hm

It's moulded in white styrene. I took it apart and cleaned it up. I have to find an engine for it, but I still have a small block Mopar engine for it, so a rebuild would not be out of the question. I am thinking of Sherwood Green with a Black Vinyl Roof, White Stripes and Interior.
