Alix Bernard Posted October 14, 2017 Posted October 14, 2017 You guys ever see one of these? On Ebay now. A Dean Jeffries creation. I just thought it was weird, a big barge poncho as a mid engine funny car.
Rob Hall Posted October 14, 2017 Posted October 14, 2017 Yeah, the MPC '67 Bonneville convertible annual. I have the kit w/ that box, but built stock.
Casey Posted October 14, 2017 Posted October 14, 2017 Saw that, and I want to say that's Round2's eBay account...I'm pretty sure I recall seeing those inventory on the boxes in one of their Collector Model posts. Maybe the Dodge D-50 kit is soon to be reissued, based on the number of those variants they have listed...
unclescott58 Posted October 14, 2017 Posted October 14, 2017 If I could have found the above at a reasonable price, I would have bought one. Instead I bought and built ModelHaus' '67 Grand Prix convertible.
Ron Hamilton Posted October 14, 2017 Posted October 14, 2017 I cannot afford it. I tried to buy several of them, but the price is out of my reach.
StevenGuthmiller Posted October 14, 2017 Posted October 14, 2017 Plan on getting out your check book & riding out a big fat one guys! I would be very surprised if it sells for less than $150.00. The only thing that might hold it back is the broken vent post & some of the assembly. As far as the "Funny Car" question goes, I think MPC had this option in quite a few kits back then. As you can tell from these photos, the '67 hardtop kit had the funny car option, as well as the '66 & '68 Bonneville kits. Steve
disabled modeler Posted October 14, 2017 Posted October 14, 2017 As a mostly factory stock and big bodied 60s cars guy the drag version sickens me...but that is just me.
russosborne Posted October 15, 2017 Posted October 15, 2017 That's funny. The drag version is the only reason I would buy that kit. If I had that kind of money that is. It would be a fun kit to build. Russ
AC Norton Posted October 15, 2017 Posted October 15, 2017 (edited) Well, if its Round2's ebay account, could that mean they have finished using this kit for reference and such, and a reissue is coming....conv, hardtop, whatever...would be exciting with todays upgrades in the big artwork box....as I recall MPC early full size Pontiacs were issued just as annuals, but I could be incorrect on that one...lets hope...the Ace.......oh, I know that you are well informed about Round2 releases, Casey,,,,any word on dates for the 74 Gremlin, 75 Datsun p/u, Cobra race team, and that USA 1 Vega.....thanks.. Edited October 15, 2017 by AC Norton
Greg Myers Posted October 15, 2017 Posted October 15, 2017 Built the hard top version, it was rather crude. You used the stock chassis with a hole cut in the middle for the engine.
disabled modeler Posted October 15, 2017 Posted October 15, 2017 Dont get me wrong....Id love to see the 67-69 Bonnevilles come back in any version but it would be a huge plus to have the choice to build them as a 2 in 1 or 3 in 1 kit. Yeah I had one of those crudely cut out chassis once Greg...ouch..! I have my dads old 68,69 and 70 HT ones but all them need a lot of parts and work...reissues of any of them would be great.
Rob Hall Posted October 15, 2017 Posted October 15, 2017 The '70 convertible was the last variation of the MPC Bonneville tool, so it's whats left and has been the only one reissued.
Greg Myers Posted October 15, 2017 Posted October 15, 2017 In my opinion, any of these older kits that haven't seen the light of day in a good long while would be great for all involved.
Draggon Posted October 15, 2017 Posted October 15, 2017 (edited) I'd love to see any of them reissued. I had the convertible and hardtop when they were new. All I have left is one of those long scoops and a set of headers. Edited October 15, 2017 by Draggon
Casey Posted October 15, 2017 Posted October 15, 2017 (edited) Well, if its Round2's ebay account, could that mean they have finished using this kit for reference and such, and a reissue is coming. It could also mean they compared what they have remaining of the molds, inserts, etc. to an original kit, and found too much is missing to make it cost effective to continue. Y'all should follow Round2 on Instagram as you're missing out on a lot of news, info, etc. which they don't share elsewhere. Hmmm, same "Archive Item" stickers on the box ends...my money is on a reissue of the Dodge D-50. https://www.instagram.com/p/BQgi46RBXTy/?hl=en&taken-by=round2models Edited October 15, 2017 by Casey
Draggon Posted October 15, 2017 Posted October 15, 2017 I looked at that Instagram link. They've got the Willys Coupe/32 Ford Sedan kit there. Hmm.
gtx6970 Posted October 15, 2017 Posted October 15, 2017 (edited) Everyone stay away from this one.I WANT thatEDIT,Never mind. I made an offer on one and it was accepted. Considerably less than asking i might add. There are ( were ) 3 of these kits on Ebay right now. All have issues to some degree. I took a chance, made an offer on the one I felt was my best chance , the condition I can work with fairly easily in my budget range .http://www.ebay.com/itm/MPC-1-25-1967-Pontiac-Bonneville-Convertible-Dean-Jeffries-Custom-1067-150-Kit/252969695159?ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT&_trksid=p2057872.m2748.l2649 should be here the end of the week . Right before we leave for vacation Edited October 15, 2017 by gtx6970

Mark Posted October 15, 2017 Posted October 15, 2017 What does 'archive item ' mean ?It was probably purchased by them for archival use; possibly to identify (or rule out) something in the tooling bank. These companies have each changed hands several times over the years, whatever archives of kits, product artwork, or anything else that may have existed originally has likely been scattered to the winds...
unclescott58 Posted October 16, 2017 Posted October 16, 2017 I looked at that Instagram link. They've got the Willys Coupe/32 Ford Sedan kit there. Hmm. I'd love get my hands on the Willys Coupe/'32 Ford Sedan kit. I really don't need another Willys. I have plenty of those. But, the Custom '32 Ford Sedan. Now that would be cool!If Round 2 can reissue the '67 Bonneville convertible I'll be very, very happy. Heck, I'd be happy with the hardtop. I'd also like to see the '69 Bonneville hardtop with the Canoe come back. MPC use to put some pretty cool and interesting extra goodies, in with their kits.
GaryR Posted October 24, 2017 Posted October 24, 2017 You whacky young people! In 1967 model companies were desperate to capitalize on the exploding popularity of a relatively new drag racing type, the funny car. This model ain't a funny car at all, it just has instructions to cut a hole in the stock chassis pan and stick the engine in, keeping the molded in front suspention and all the other stock "details". Other weird "funny cars" were the Revell 62 Plymouth on the Tony Nancy Fuller dragster chassis, Johan Ambulances and umpteen tall injector stacks for nearly everything.GOOD FC models were the new AMT AWB kits, the MPC Color Me Gone and Cougar kits ( REALLY terrible slicks not counting).Kids would buy almost ANYTHING that said funny car on the box!I'd certainly build this one stock!
Daddyfink Posted October 24, 2017 Posted October 24, 2017 I would buy it only for the Drag Option! Otherwise, meh!
ChrisBcritter Posted October 25, 2017 Posted October 25, 2017 I just hope the reissues will make enough money to get the '64 Cutlass tool restored; at least we know for sure that exists (albeit in rusty condition with the Funny Car body).A quasi-reissue of the Show 'n' Go might be doable, based on the '32 Vicky tool with the existing two-door sedan body plus a few new parts like the quad-light nose retooled; sort of like the Soapbox Derby Champions II and upcoming Polyglas Gasser II.
