High octane Posted November 7, 2017 Posted November 7, 2017 For a current project that I'm building, I need to know in inches how big is 1 1/8th, 1 9/16th, and 11 7/8th is in 1/24th scale. I have a 1/24th scale ruler but I don't know how to use it as I've been using "eyeball engineering over the years. Thanks.
Ace-Garageguy Posted November 7, 2017 Posted November 7, 2017 ... 1 1/8th... 1 9/16th, and 11 7/8th is in 1/24th scale...1 1/8" is 1.125" expressed as a decimal (tenths of an inch). Divide by 24 for 1/24 scale. You get .047"1 9/16" is 1.5625" expressed as tenths. Divide by 24. You get .065"11 7/8" is 11.875" as a decimal equivalent. Divide by 24. It's .495" in 1/24 scale.

peteski Posted November 8, 2017 Posted November 8, 2017 Calculator is nice, but we are talking elementary school math here. This is the time where we get to use those basic math skills we learned in school but always thought we would never need them in real life. We should be exercising our gray matter more.

Not trying to be rude here, but the two Peters agree. Scale is not that complex. If you can't do the math in your head, your smartphone has a calculator. It is a single operation. Of course you could use a metric measure. Working in tenths is much easier than fractions for most people.
