Steamboat Posted November 30, 2017 Posted November 30, 2017 Has anybody ever offered 4-lug steel wheels for Mustang or Falcon 6-cylinder cars like the wheel pictured below? I'm trying to do a 6-cylinder conversion and could either use wheels like this or stock wheel covers.
Erik Smith Posted November 30, 2017 Posted November 30, 2017 As a steelie fan...I have not seen any exactly like those. I think the early annuals has small steel wheels but were 5 lug. So, to get close, you might try to find a Tamiya Lotus Super 7 kit. It has steel wheels that should scale out to about 14” maybe? With four lugs. Other Japanese kits and manufacturers have 4 lug steelies but they have numerous holes around the edge instead of just the four openings like the ones above. Here is a quick snap of the Lotus wheels from eBay listing:
Steamboat Posted December 1, 2017 Author Posted December 1, 2017 Thanks. That's a great lead. I'll look into the Japanese kits.
ChrisBcritter Posted December 1, 2017 Posted December 1, 2017 Thanks x2! Anyone have a Super 7 who could measure the diameter? 9/16" (14.5 mm) will fit the original AMT compact tires. And if you need early ('60-'63) Falcon hubcaps, check with Jimmy Flintstone to see if he'll sell the ones he makes for his Econoline van; they're much more accurate than the ones in the '60 Ranchero kit.
Snake45 Posted December 1, 2017 Posted December 1, 2017 I have extra '66 Mustang stock wheel covers, if those would help you out. (I have a feeling you're looking for something else, though.)
