Mike C. Posted March 3, 2022 Posted March 3, 2022 Yeah. The pic was from some 3D print site. I think someone makes a finished one in a smaller scale.

The only two coupes I know of are 1/20 or 1/12 scale - I would take either, but my wallet has to be fat when they appear on the auction block. The 1/12 scale coupe was released then the 1/12 convertible, so maybe the coupe molds bit the dust decades ago. I have never been able to find a resin conversion for the Tamiya or Fujimi (which is an older Doyusha) versions either. HERE is a 1/20 auction - 50,000 yen, or about $500. The 1/12 sell for that or double or triple... I mean, who wouldn't want THIS. Edited March 3, 2022 by Erik Smith

I suspect the 1/24 ex-Monogram pickup kits are selling well enough though, that a major investment isn't justified at this point. An all-new Squarebody would be awesome! All years could "easily" be covered, at least 1973-1979; then 1980 (cowl was separated from the hood for 1980, IIRC); then 1981-1987 (1992 [?] for the heavy duty iterations). The only reason why the (ancient) Monogram et al. K-20 sells is because it's the only game in town (for the 1973-1979 guise). The MPC et al. c.1982 K-10 ostensibly sells well, but is also long in the tooth (and is a short bed with goobered lines from the Fall Guy ad seq. releases) -- even its SBC is so-so: not terrible, but outdated even by 1978 standards. Moebius! I'm --we're-- addressing you! Round2! C'mon, man! Backdate that Mile High Club (or whatever it's called) pickup, and reinstall the 2WD parts; uninstall the outdate SBC app (or at least run updates to its belts & pulleys to represent the correct 1969 & later arrangement).

I think someone makes a finished one in a smaller scale. I remember when that 3D illustration came out, the tragedy there is the illustrator incorrectly assumed it was a camper on a shortbed pickup, so the camper unit is stretched a bit behind the doors, and appears off in quite a few other spots. Ironic about the lower 1:1 illustration I use here -- this full size rig, Chalet #1683, is the exact rig used as some kind of 3D scanning template for the 1:43 scale '77 model year diecasts (4th one up from the bottom of the page here) allegedly for sale out there. I'm guessing the European folks (?) used the dozens of photos from this 2017 website ad for it as a means to create the 3D model, they even exactly replicated the camper unit's much faded vinyl stripe colors and the missing parts of what were originally complete unbroken diagonal stripes on the back. I use the word "allegedly" there because the maker's page says it was a limited edition of 150 models, but I've seen way more ebay and other ads for them, and nobody I know has actually bought one to show beyond any of the maker's own photos. Btw, I used to own Chalet #1747, I'm the caretaker (meaning, I pay the bill to keep it online) of the old BlazerChalet site. These are individually designated by the camper unit serial numbers.

Funny thing about the Chalet, when these things were new Chevrolet dealers almost couldn't give them away. The dealership I worked in had one in stock for almost two years. 1

roadkill Posted March 13, 2022 Posted March 13, 2022 G'day guys from the land down under, does anyone know of a kit for a 1968 Chevy Impala four door pillarless, I had one that I stripped to the last nut and bolt and cleaned up, painted and put it all back together again, by myself in a big shed that I also built, by myself, don't have the car anymore (dammit) so a model would be a good way to remember it, painted the same colour and all. so anyhoo, thanks in advance if someone knows of a kit or just any other answers. Kind regards Michael Pederick, aka roadkill. 2

Curious about amber turn signal/hazard lenses -- or were those add-on lamps? Were those sold through Holden?
Mike C. Posted March 14, 2022 Posted March 14, 2022 This would be an easy and much welcomed re-issue. I should have bought a half dozen of these the last time they came around. I have a thing for vintage dirt bikes.
Mike C. Posted March 15, 2022 Posted March 15, 2022 (edited) Or you could go with a new tooling. how about Fonzie's short lived Knucklehead. I heard one story that Henry Winkler hated it because it was too heavy so the network got him the Triumph he had later on. he didn't even ride motorcycles. Any time you saw him riding it was a stunt double. Edited March 15, 2022 by Mike C.
keyser Posted March 15, 2022 Posted March 15, 2022 Ixo does awesome 1/24 scooters that are reasonable. Parts pack price or so. HD, Duc, Speed Triple,…. Maisto had great 1/24 HD series too. Police Electraglide, early stuff, search ‘bay. I’d like to see Current F1 cars with all new rules. Should last a bit. Recent GTi, E63 wagon, Lucid, and new VW e-Bus.

Would be a nice project for Revell, the chassis and much of the drive-train could be used for the tri years, even a '57 Nomad or plain wagon drag racer! If someone here has the time, to write a (250K) proposal to sent of to a Revell rep. be my guest....

I bet it would be hugely popular. You see a lot of people trying to build a 55 gasser from scratch or combining kits and it just doesn't work. Revell is missing a big opportunity here.
