oldnslow Posted December 23, 2017 Posted December 23, 2017 Just received the Mar 2018 issue of Car Craft and there's an article on building nostalgia funny cars . Steve Magnante is the guy who built the Wilshire Shaker 63 Nova back in '01 . He's all about finishing an idea , no extra detail , paint or extras , but he has a lot of cars to show . Interesting from a how he does it stand point .
Greg Myers Posted December 23, 2017 Posted December 23, 2017 Wouldn't even know where to get a copy of Car Craft anymore.

Daddyfink Posted December 24, 2017 Posted December 24, 2017 Steve is a pretty cool guy in person. He will take the time to talk to you about almost anything, if he has the time He brought the Shaker to Bakersfield one year and it was really cool to pick his brain. My friend Skip Samples took some pics and we made these with them! Shaker Clones!
Draggon Posted December 24, 2017 Posted December 24, 2017 I haven't seen the Car Craft article. This one was on BangShift awhile back. https://bangshift.com/general-news/funny-car-folk-art-build-yours-or-buy-mine-helpful-tips-for-building-altered-wheelbase-models/
oldnslow Posted December 25, 2017 Author Posted December 25, 2017 Yep , that's the bunch , they must have been hurting to fill space . He just turned it into a magazine article .
Snake45 Posted December 28, 2017 Posted December 28, 2017 Got mine today. Kinda sorta interesting article in some ways but the words "styrene butcher" went through my mind more than once. Most of these things were the scale plastic equivalent of rat rods. At least he's not cutting up rare old kits.
bobthehobbyguy Posted December 28, 2017 Posted December 28, 2017 Wish he'd made an effort to paint them considering what he was asking for them. Some interesting ideas.
Atmobil Posted December 30, 2017 Posted December 30, 2017 Cool, I just recently learned of Steve Magnate trough MTOD and Junkyard Gold (I just watched the latest episode some hours ago infact). Seems to be a guy with a lot of info in his head. Cool to see he is also in to modelkits.
