Shawnmcouturier Posted January 6, 2018 Posted January 6, 2018 Hey guys, I just finished my first model. By your standards it is probably not very good but I think it’s ok for a first try. Any tips are appreciated. (Don’t hate to much, I am only 12)
PARTSMARTY Posted January 6, 2018 Posted January 6, 2018 Welcome to the forum-great start for 12-keep it up you'll only get better and we'll help you if you need it-rock on !!!
DRIPTROIT 71 Posted January 6, 2018 Posted January 6, 2018 Wow! Looks great! Let's see some more! Welcome to the forum!
oldnslow Posted January 6, 2018 Posted January 6, 2018 Looks like you've got the rusty , crusty down pretty good .
426 pack Posted January 6, 2018 Posted January 6, 2018 Looks good. I’m 16 and I started building around the age of 12 and your model is much better than my first.
afx Posted January 6, 2018 Posted January 6, 2018 I started when I was around 12 and have been building for more than 40 years! Its a great hobby - welcome to it.
68shortfleet Posted January 6, 2018 Posted January 6, 2018 Wow, wish I could have built that nice when I was 12.
DumpyDan Posted January 6, 2018 Posted January 6, 2018 Well done, great little car for a diorama or barn find
Ken Gilkeson Posted January 6, 2018 Posted January 6, 2018 looks great, you're off to a whale of a start.
Shawnmcouturier Posted January 6, 2018 Author Posted January 6, 2018 Thanks guys, it really means a lot to me.
Lovefordgalaxie Posted January 6, 2018 Posted January 6, 2018 If it was supposed to be a new car with shiny paint, then it's not good. If it was supposed to be an old weathered car, it's awesome, specially for a first try.
Dodge Driver Posted January 6, 2018 Posted January 6, 2018 I've see 1:1 Hemi Mopars that look like your model. You have captured the appearance of the real ones very well!
espo Posted January 6, 2018 Posted January 6, 2018 This just what a car looks like if it's left outside in those Michigan winters. Well done and welcome to the forum. I foresee many great builds in you future, please keep sharing with us.
Shawnmcouturier Posted January 6, 2018 Author Posted January 6, 2018 Thank you for the encouragement everyone!
vamach1 Posted January 7, 2018 Posted January 7, 2018 Nice to see not every model posted is all new and shiny. Keep up the great work.
mchook Posted January 7, 2018 Posted January 7, 2018 You did a great job! I want to see more pictures of it! Don't tease us with just 1 pic.

Greg Wann Posted January 7, 2018 Posted January 7, 2018 Hi Shawn, Great job. That is very cool. My only suggestion is to be able to make the tires appear to be flat. I really hope someone here knows how to do that. That is a detail part I could resin cast if I had a good master part.
Cpt Tuttle Posted January 7, 2018 Posted January 7, 2018 When I was 12 I had been building for four years already and none of my builds looked even close to this, very well done.
