HDDan Posted January 8, 2018 Posted January 8, 2018 This is my first attempt at doing a weathered look. I kinda screwed up on the chipping so I tried something different and I think that it came out pretty good. I was thinking about putting dents and some cancer but I might do a restoration on it some day.
Snake45 Posted January 9, 2018 Posted January 9, 2018 You've got a pretty good "patina" look going here. Your first time trying it? I'd say you're off to a flying start!
HDDan Posted January 26, 2018 Author Posted January 26, 2018 Yes it is my first time. I ended up putting the flat clear on instead of the chipping compound."oops" I put some thinner in my air brush and sprayed the teal enamel off to reveal the rust
misterNNL Posted January 26, 2018 Posted January 26, 2018 Nice work Daniel. It looks like the pickers have already been there scrounging some parts from it. Thanks for sharing.
HDDan Posted January 26, 2018 Author Posted January 26, 2018 I wanted to save as many parts from it as possible so I built the blown caddy motor and put it on the stand
unclescott58 Posted January 26, 2018 Posted January 26, 2018 It looks terrible. Which in this case good. I like it.
bbowser Posted January 26, 2018 Posted January 26, 2018 Very convincing, hard to believe its your first attempt. Well done.
Chuck Most Posted January 27, 2018 Posted January 27, 2018 Not too shabby for a first attempt. Well... I guess shabby is the point when you're weathering. You know what I mean.
HDDan Posted January 27, 2018 Author Posted January 27, 2018 Thanks! I really appreciate the compliments. Especially on my first attempt at weathering. This is the third model I've ever done and now I'm hooked.
Slotto Posted January 27, 2018 Posted January 27, 2018 This is very convincing. Nice job. Now, bring it back to life.
HDDan Posted January 28, 2018 Author Posted January 28, 2018 Challenge accepted Slotto. I have a 32coupe , Shelby S1 and a Chevy Cruze to finish first. And possibly a 72 vet that's going to be a 1:1 replica of a friend's car. I think I will do it 100% show room new
f1ford48 Posted February 15, 2018 Posted February 15, 2018 I like the rusty water stain on the rear tire.
El Caballo Posted February 15, 2018 Posted February 15, 2018 "It won't start, Ethel." "Look under the hood, Vern."
