Hey, JAFFA, just get you an old model box, curve up one end, slap some bumpers and lights on the box, X-acto out some holes...er, windows, get a paint crayon and do a big "W" on it and "presto". Just think of all the money you'd save on styrene.... ;):)

Build on!!

Yes!!! I remember seeing a big (1:18th or so) metal Nylint (or Tonka?) toy Winnebago of this style at toy shows in the past.

I grew up in an RVing family, we had 4 of 'em over about 15 years, and went camping and drove cross country several times, first with a 22 foot Mobile Traveler Class C (Dodge Sportsman van cab), later a Pace Arrow 25 foot Class A, later a Southwind 28 foot Class A, finally, a Winnebago Chieftain 33 foot Class A. Fun times.

YES, that would be a great project. Not a great kit as the market is a little limited..... but as a Scratch-built project I say GO FOR IT!!!!

I suppose one could utilize the fixtures and fittings from the old Model King/AMT camper body and racers wedge kit. Hess Oil also sold promos of the then futuristic looking GMC motor home in 1/25th scale.

It seems I vaguely remember that someone did produce a 1/20th scale Winnebago in the seventies. I have seen it offered as a kit and builtup on "that other auction site" occasionally - the maker was not one of the Little 3 model companies. Be forewarned - I don't think they go for less than three figures!!! :);)

You know I P M S Richmond Virginia has always put me as well as acouple of other builders in the "weird" catagory. Look I scratch build gasoline pumps primarly because I consider them art and no one else builds them. Granted, I have to enter my stuff in Misc. along with models of Pratt and Whitney airplane engines, but so what. People do respect me for the fact that I know a lot about oil company history and I share that information with any one needing help Don't just talk, BUILD IT PEOPLE WILL STOP AND LOOK AT IT!!!!!!!!!!!!! ###### that sounds so great, i've promised myself that once i've made citizen, and bought and restored a -58 Lincoln Continental, i'm gonna go across all the 50 states in a row in it, my biggest three ambitions in life ;)

O.o, people allways mock me for my religious believe in Penzoil, but maybe here's someone who understand? ;) The nyance of the yellow in the logo DOES matter, it should classic mustard yellow, not the modern racing yellow.... ;)

Hey Jaffa. With your skills, and it being a scratch build, How about a chop/ channel job with a blown big block for power with big and littles for stance. I know, I'm sick, but if I had the skills I would sure do it. ;)

Write me up for a bunch of them suckers! I can think of a dozen projects using that camper right off the top of my head besides a redneck campground! It would be cool having a model kit or resin kit of one but the price would have to be over 100 bucks which I would pay but how many can't?

Sure you scratchbuilt one and I have seen some nice jobs including a Aluminum Airstream trailer and that was not easy making those round ends! A chopped low in da weeds camper would be cool.... :P

:) Guy's I have 2 of the "Hess Training Vans" One I've been working on, an another untouched. If anyone would/could be willing to cast it, I'd be willing to lend it for that purpose.Maybe, they could be sold (the castings) to off set the price of materials to the forum members. They are kinda hard to come by,(I've had mine for about 10 years, and haven't seen any more)so I would like it back, But to have a chance for more of us to have one,I'd be willing to do it.Anyone wanna try it? I saw in another post someone was willing to cast some resin 69 RoadRunner bucket seats, so maybe this might be doable too?Just a thought. Let me know what you guys think,We got a master, can we get a CASTER?(HAAAAA,I got a milloin of em!!!)(stoopid jokes that is!):blink::lol:
