Good afternoon all,

I am getting back into the hobby after reading Chris Sobak's awesome thread on his Army Vega. It has been probably 30 years since I completed a kit.   I am in no way at his skill level, but I am going to relearn the basics and go from there.  My intention is to make this an Out of the Box, clean as possible build, but I already have a blower hat on order due to damage to the kit piece during the packaging process.  With that, I may look at stainless lines and A/N fittings. Also, my work schedule will make bench time a premium.  As soon as I can figure out how to post pics, I will have an update.

Lee.. so glad to see you starting this build. Going to be  good one. Let me know of you want me to send you an injector hat from my Prudhomme kit.i would be more than happy too.

Thanks Chris, I ordered one from Comp Resins already.  Any chance you have one of those printed blower belts?  I'll gladly reimburse you.  I know the rubber band in the kit will play hell even with CA glue.

GoatGuy, thanks for the encouragement.

Great to see you getting back into the Hobby, you couldn't have picked a better project to start. That is a great kit and a really fun build. Good luck and thanks for sharing. Looking forward to more project pics along the way

the simple act of cleaning mold lines and ejector pin marks felt good.

  No shortage of mold seams to clean off the chassis rails, but far better than the Aurora kit.

Are you planning to lower the rear of the body a bit? The nose was always a challenge on this kit for me, as it was a balance between leaving a nice crisp edge for the "bumper" or fully molding it in (as it should be) and masking it off perfectly.

Casey,  My plan is to mold and mask the front bumpers.  Thanks for looking!

Remember to have fun and enjoy your bench time . I would use the Scale Auto build as your template .

Jeff.

Thanks Jeff, that is the intention.  I built quite a lot from the time I was twelve until I joined the Navy.  Then, well, life happened:rolleyes:.  I have learned a lot from this forum and I want to improve my skills and have fun.

Well, got some bench time yesterday, more body prep and chassis glue up. Rear end splayed out so much that it will not hold the rear body panel, so that needs fixing. Also de-chromed some parts, really surprised when I saw the plastic is almost translucent

Any updates Lee?

Sorry, not yet, work has been hard and heavy, with medical appointments for my wife to boot.  I am currently awaiting a new 9" rear from shapeways as the Halibrand kit rear is incorrect.  I will have some time in the next week or so, so I will probably do some chassis work as the body supports are out of whack.  Thanks for keeping me accountableB)

Lee, looking good so far.  Let me know if you need some other kit pieces.  I have a parts box for the funny cars and dragsters and may have extra parts if you need them.

Thanks Goat, I am well, but time to build just doesn’t seem to be available to me. I will try to get some progress done soon!
