Mahogany Rush Posted February 10, 2018 Posted February 10, 2018 Here is my latest build. One of my favorite real life cars. A 55 Chevy 210 Post with a 265. Went with a two-tone paint on it with Rustoleum Gloss Seaside Green and Rustoleum Gloss White. I did not clear coat this one as a tried a new method of Pledge Floor Wax. Came out better than I thought. Also tried the Molotow Chrome Pens instead of BMF. Like some spots and disliked others. Used some big meats on the rear and dropped the stance a bit. Thanx for looking!
BigTallDad Posted February 10, 2018 Posted February 10, 2018 Nice looking '55! I also had a 1:1 '55 in a similar color...
Mahogany Rush Posted February 10, 2018 Author Posted February 10, 2018 (edited) That's cool because I was in the store parking lot when I was near completion of this build when I spotted this guy having lunch in his 55. I approached him and we spoke about his car and I ask him if I could take a pic, he said sure. Then I told him I was building a similar model with the near same paint scheme. He thought it was cool until I remembered that I had pix of my model after the paint job, so I showed him the pic. He loved it. He was the second owner of this car and had it for over 40 years that he got from his uncle, the original owner. Edited February 10, 2018 by Mahogany Rush
geetee66 Posted February 10, 2018 Posted February 10, 2018 Nice work! that thing looks like it could haul-ass! Paint looks very smooth, too. By the way, the photos look great and it's impossible to see the areas of chrome which you're not happy with. I'm just finishing up on my 55 and had to resort to a Molotow pen, after the BMF proved to be a dodgy batch or something. Keeps lifting . The pen is great for those pesky attachment points on chrome parts, though.
espo Posted February 10, 2018 Posted February 10, 2018 Very nicely detailed. The colors are perfect '50's combination.
