Steamboat Posted February 16, 2018 Posted February 16, 2018 I went through all my built models trying to determine which has the best 727 Torqueflight transmission. Here are the results: #1 - Polar Lights 1965 Dodge #2 - Revell '69 Dodge Dart (on right, MPC on left, sorry for the bad focus) #3 - Johan Chrysler turbine car The rest - Lindberg '64 Dodge Johan '68 Chrysler 300 (nice torsion bars too! - NOT) Lindberg Little Red Wagon If anyone knows of others that have more detail, feel free to add.

Steamboat Posted February 17, 2018 Author Posted February 17, 2018 I think it was the snapper. It was pre-painted. The detail on the transmission is surprising.

High octane Posted February 17, 2018 Posted February 17, 2018 I believe that Competition Resins also cast the 727 trans in both the long and short tail shafts.
426 pack Posted February 17, 2018 Posted February 17, 2018 What about the revell 1968 Dodge Dart 2in1 it has a 727 behind a 440 (right side of pic) or the monogram 41 Willy’s pro street it has a 727 behind a 396 (left side of pic)

It is the snapper-I'm finishing up a 65 coronet convertible for a buddy as we speak.
disabled modeler Posted February 17, 2018 Posted February 17, 2018 And who says snappers cant be good..? Some of the snap kits are great in my opinion...I still enjoy them just i do much better with them than I did many years ago..LOL.. Nice information to have.

Thanks for the reference shots (though I believe the engine on the left is a 392 Chrysler hemi, which is, I suspect, what you meant; 396 is usually a non-hemi Chevy displacement).

Yeah you are right it is a 392 I just got mixed up and wrote the wrong number down. Edited February 17, 2018 by 426 pack

The pre-painted body is nice, and the Torque-Thrust wheels are awesome. I could never get the twist out of the body, though, no matter how hard I tried. The left front wheel doesn't touch the ground.

The oil pan is what makes it realistic. The chrome one on that 392 is pretty sweet.
Casey Posted February 17, 2018 Posted February 17, 2018 I like the 727 TorqueFlite auto trans in the Revell '69 and '68 Dart's 727, too. Lots of close up pics of the '68's BBC and 727 here: The AMT '71 Dodge Charger R/T kit also includes a nice 727, though I don't have any better pics for comparison:

Hmm, I had no problems building mine and all four tires touch the ground.

The 65 coronet conv that i'm re-doing. came metallic blue-i re-did it in an older g.m. color-a medium red pearl-haven't decided on the wheels yet mine is kinda like the red on this one.
