Rob Hall Posted March 3, 2018 Posted March 3, 2018 Saw this pic on an automotive forum today, a very unusual configuration...everything on this Chevy V8 seems to be in the wrong place...
High octane Posted March 3, 2018 Posted March 3, 2018 I've seen that car and engine a number of years back at a rat rod/customs car show and hearing it run was really cool.
Ace-Garageguy Posted March 3, 2018 Posted March 3, 2018 Well, that's one of those cases where sure, you CAN do it, but really, WHY would you want to? Unless specifically designed to package the induction and exhaust systems like that, converting most every engine on the planet to intake through the exhaust ports results in a SIGNIFICANT reduction in power. But then again, hot-rodding to me has always about making things work better. https://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/threads/reverse-induction-engine.716655/
Modelbuilder Mark Posted March 3, 2018 Posted March 3, 2018 I wonder how much road debris get sucked into those intakes right behind the tires like that...

On most modern engines, the intake and exhaust valves are different sizes not to mention the ports. Switching them around would definitely change the air flow into and out of the engine. This really looks like shade tree engineering to me. My guess is a few beers and a bet to bring this one to this end.
Rob Hall Posted March 3, 2018 Author Posted March 3, 2018 (edited) So who is going to build their own version this in 1/25th? Would be fun to see... Edited March 3, 2018 by Rob Hall
jeffdeoranut Posted March 3, 2018 Posted March 3, 2018 maybe its a bad idea in 1 : 1 but it looks cool...jmho
Spex84 Posted March 3, 2018 Posted March 3, 2018 That HAMB thread pretty much spells it out. An odd decision, but one heck of an attention getter!

Richard Bartrop Posted March 5, 2018 Posted March 5, 2018 And then you get this thing, where not only did they reverse the intake and exhaust, they mounted the engine upside down as well.
