Impalow Posted April 19, 2018 Author Posted April 19, 2018 All Done!!! 17 hours ago, Mr. Metallic said: You always do such a nice job on the details with your projects. Tell us about the piece used to mount the side pipe to the bedside. Please Thanks Craig!! Its actually just a piece of 1/8" brass tube... I needed something to transition from 3/32" solid rod to 3/32" tube, so i made these hangers... They looked a bit bland so I tossed them on the lathe and kissed them 3 times with a rounded bit..
NOBLNG Posted April 19, 2018 Posted April 19, 2018 Superb work! I love how the wheels turned out. Are the exhaust pipes done with the Molotow chrome also?

Thank you!! The exhaust is K-S Aluminum tube hand polished with Auto Wenol Metal polish... This stuff is fantastic, and shines stuff up quick and easy. https://www.amazon.com/100-tube-Auto-Wenol-blue/dp/B002CBUD0M/ref=pd_bxgy_201_img_2?_encoding=UTF8&pd_rd_i=B002CBUD0M&pd_rd_r=HWW0Q8V2TWZYSYJC3TNZ&pd_rd_w=pSbc2&pd_rd_wg=VdFKX&psc=1&refRID=HWW0Q8V2TWZYSYJC3TNZ

Mr. Metallic Posted April 19, 2018 Posted April 19, 2018 I knew it had more detail to it than just a piece of tube. This thing is so freaking cool. Well done, as always
mustang1989 Posted April 19, 2018 Posted April 19, 2018 That paint is a work of art in itself!!!! Beautiful work Eric!!
bobthehobbyguy Posted April 23, 2018 Posted April 23, 2018 Congrats on winning an award at the nnl east.
peter31a Posted April 24, 2018 Posted April 24, 2018 Seconding the congrats on winning the Foose theme award at NNL East. Well deserved.
Impalow Posted April 24, 2018 Author Posted April 24, 2018 (edited) Thank you guys! It was an honor to bring home that award! That wasn't really the original intent of this build, at all... it was just a paint experiment that happened to go really well... then a slight thrash to have it done for the show. John Pol Posted April 24, 2018 Posted April 24, 2018 Great looking build congrats on your winnings with it what did you use for the piping?
Impalow Posted April 24, 2018 Author Posted April 24, 2018 3 minutes ago, John Pol said: Great looking build congrats on your winnings with it what did you use for the piping? Thanks john! It is just detail master red ignition wire, i have used a bunch of different types of wire... tend to go with "the smaller the better" for piping, even the red I used is still too large, if you look at it as 1:1 scale.
iamsuperdan Posted April 25, 2018 Posted April 25, 2018 "Happened to go really well?" Understatement. Of. The. Year. Dude, the paint is amazing. The whole build, just wow.
bobthehobbyguy Posted April 25, 2018 Posted April 25, 2018 X2 definitely understatement. Very clean work.
redneckrigger Posted April 30, 2018 Posted April 30, 2018 Saw that beauty at NNL East.............absolutely beautiful! Well done!!!
Impalow Posted April 30, 2018 Author Posted April 30, 2018 Thank you guys for the kind words! I really appreciate it. On 4/24/2018 at 10:51 PM, iamsuperdan said: "Happened to go really well?" It almost went back in a box to never be seen again... it looked like 80 grit sandpaper.. haha.. 18 hours ago, Elliot949 said: What Clearcoat did you use... It was just the value line urethane clear from the local paint store, I always use the cheaper clear... they try to up-sell me with the premium stuff by telling my it has a higher build, and better UV protection.. neither matter for model car stuff... in fact I think the thinner stuff is a plus... keeps it from having the "dipped in goo" look.
misterNNL Posted May 1, 2018 Posted May 1, 2018 Those fellows from Wadsworth build some very nice models ! Congrats to you and that other guy(what was is name again ?).
Maindrian Pace Posted May 4, 2018 Posted May 4, 2018 Wow, what a looker! (how did I miss this thread?)
Tom Geiger Posted May 8, 2018 Posted May 8, 2018 Eric, this is the first time I saw this thread! So I read it beginning to end with great interest! And this is how it all ended... note that Eric lost a bunch of weight since last year's photo. I believe I found it!
TooOld Posted May 19, 2018 Posted May 19, 2018 Really sorry I missed this Eric , It's absolutely stunning ! Congratulations on a very deserved win at NNL East ! Where did you source the steel wheels from ? I've been searching for a set just like those .
